That may be the link and would make sense. Not my ideal choice but he would sound nice singing it.

Hi all I don’t post often but read all the time. I think there is a good chance it will go to a lesser known boy bander, but also discovered on X-Factor. Jaymi Hensley from Union J would fit that brief very well and he has been seen!
Will try and post more generally in the forum more often. Have a good day.

Having just moved back to Glasgow it's nice to be reminded how important and thriving the am dram community continues to be. As a youngster it is what prompted me to head off to London to work in theatre. Now that I'm back I really will need to get involved again. Am dram does great work across the country in keeping old shows alive and giving life to new ones. Long may it continue to pursue excellence.

Hi Ryan
It's a real school, charging real money. I refuse to watch it but the principals are also real.
They are treading a fine line between what is appropriate behaviour and what is not and all for TV!

I think it probably has had such a negative reaction because it is set in a 'real' dance and drama college, where students are paying a small fortune to get an education and training that will eventually lead to a career in performing arts. When did they fit in their education whilst filming this scripted reality drama? They certainly didn't squeeze the filming in over a few weeks of holiday. I know the school and what is does well. They audition 100's of applicants each year and I am sure that this will increase for them but from students who are neither capable or equipped to take the actual training on (not this ridiculous representation of a tough and exhausting training). I think it is shameful, opportunistic and down right vile that an education establishment has allowed their students (and new 'students') to be depicted in this way. If this was an entirely fictitious programme, with actors playing real characters, set in a fictitious environment I am sure it would be hilarious and would have worked out quite well. Instead the production company have jumped on the bandwagon that is scripted reality and made a mockery of an incredibly demanding profession. I am with my colleagues and I am enraged.

Having worked in the majority of 'stage schools' I absolutely disagree that what has been shown so far is in any way representative of reality. There are always people who don't get on in any training or employment field but the idea that everyone is fighting and being down right unkind all the time is nonsense. The majority of staff and students I know would completely agree.

I think the responsibility D and B have to their students is totally destroyed by showcasing them in this manner. I can't ever imagine suggesting to my students that this would be a positive move for the industry or their career, unless you are looking for a quick route into the, far too many already, scripted reality rubbish that is all over the TV.
Any hopes of accreditation (or renewal) will now be severely damaged by promoting an entirely fictitious performers experience during training.
If there is a petition to ban it I would sign it.

Sunday in the Park with George is easily my favourite Sondheim, although there is very little I don't like. Not rhyming but 'the choice may have been mistaken the choosing was not, from 'Move on' strikes a real resonance with me and 'We lose things. And then we choose things. And there are Louis's And there are Georges- Well, Louis's And George'. Kills me every single time! I know technically not lyrics but towards the end of the DVD when all of the characters from the painting form an arc and bow to him in honour and respect- speechless! Sincerely, I struggle to speak! That moment kills me and topped off with 'White a blank canvas, his favourite. So many possibilities'. I need a good half hour to recover after that!

Hi Everyone, long time lurker looking for some of your shared wisdom. After 20 years in London I am moving back to Scotland to either Glasgow or Edinburgh (or somewhere in between). It's a bit of an adventure and I am hoping to do more freelance work up there than I've been able to do down here. I've worked as a Musical Theatre actor and now spend most of my time coaching singing and acting.
My main question is for those of you that live up there can you recommend particular places to advertise as a singing and acting coach? I've tried lots of agents and am dram companies but need to spread my net a little wider. Of course if anyone has any other thoughts on theatre based employment I'd love to hear it. I really want to get back into more artistic projects MD'ing and Directing as well.
When I'm up there I'll be looking for a new friendship group as well and I hope there are plenty of members on here that might be up for reminding me of the beauty in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Any thoughts would be really much appreciated. Was a really exciting adventure two weeks ago and as it gets closer it's getting more daunting.
Thanks in advance.
Matt

I don't often comment, but, although it might have been true 10 years ago that a drama school would tell a student to lose weight that is no longer the norm. Working in one of the top colleges in London I can say that from first hand experience. Students are encouraged to have a healthy life style and are given the tools to make that happen, but never are any students told to lose weight. I think drama and dance colleges have made significant advancement in this area over the last 5-10 years and I am really proud that students are no longer being persecuted for their body shape. I have no right to decide how someone should live their life or what their body looks like. There is still a lot of work that the drama schools can do but to state that all drama schools make their students lose weight is entirely inaccurate.

None of mine either. But I would be tempted to finally see it if it was on a comp!

The pictures and comments on Twitter have been generally quite positive so I'm looking forward to seeing it. Whether Aaron Tviet is too old or not doesn't bother me. It's Aaron Tviet!
