Loved it. One of the most moving pieces of animation I have ever seen. The beauty is in its simplicity and truth, which towards the end is pretty frank and raw.

I live in Glasgow also (also originally from the Highlands) and I am involved in the am-dram scene as a musical director. I think Glasgow has one of the most diverse am dram scenes in the UK. The last year alone companies have tackled the latest releases (Priscilla, 9 To 5), classic shows (West Side Story, Fiddler On The Roof) as well as some rarely produced shows (Carrie, Curtains). It is an exciting community to be part of who constantly strive for excellence. Where are you from in the Highlands and what groups are you part of? (so many questions!) I've moved back because my fiancé is off to uni to study Photography. Sadly, that means I have to semi-retire from professional performing and get 9to5 job as there can only be one starving artist in the family at a time. I'd love to be involved with some AmDram during my time here but it's terrifying having all these companies to choose from and not knowing anyone. I have sent you a DM.

My partner gave me the beautiful book about the making of the stage production of 'Mary Poppins'.

I wish Hollywood would hurry up and get the finger out and put 'Follies' onto screen before we lose any more legends. Debbie Reynolds would have been perfect for 'The Mirror Song'. Along side that appearances from Liza Minnelli (I'm Still Here), Angela Lansbury (Broadway Baby), Julie Andrews & Dick Van Dyke (Rain On The Roof). Put Meryl and Barbra/Glenn in as Sally and Phyllis.

For me it has to be Dreamgirls. I was obsessed with the movie when it came out and to see it on stage was a wish come true. Can't wait to go back and see it again in the New Year.

Really hope it is the original Disney production and not the cheap UK Productions version.

Jennifer Hudson was definitely the highlight of this.
Ariana Grande was awful, both dramatically and vocally. There was a lot of technical issues and also some flubbed lines. Didn't Tracy forget lyrics during Good Morning Baltimore?
Hoping they will edit it with some of the pre-filmed footage before it is released on DVD.

Last night I attend the Royal Conservatoire Of Scotland's production of Brigadoon by their final year musical theatre students.
There productions are always of a high standard and I have seen them produce outstanding productions of Carousel, Cabaret and Sunday In The Park With George.
I have waited many years to see Brigadoon on the stage. I love the score and, apart from the dubious Scottish accents, love the movie version.
Last night I was left shocked and angry. I am aware the show requires a bit of an update. This was a basically a whole re-write where all sentiment was ripped from the book and much darker product put in its place. Instead of the village that appears only once every 100 years we have a cult living in a fairground attraction called "The Brigadoon Experience". Harry Ritchie is no longer the misunderstood villain. Bizzare would be an understatement.
The songs remained intact with new traditional Scottish music orchestrations. In some places this was thrilling but yet in others felt somewhat laboured.
It was such a shame as the students, particularly the actor playing Tommy, were excellent.
How the director has been allowed to ignore the author's original intentions and create this piece that is so far removed from the original is beyond me.

Saw this in Aberdeen last night. Mixed feelings.
I loved Layton Williams as Angel. I had reservations that he might camp it up too much but his portrayal was fierce, beautiful and moving. Ryan O'Gorman as Benjamin is also great and his vocals on I'll Cover You (Reprise) are spine tingling.
Understudy, Joshua Dever, was on for Mark. He was good and will be even better given the chance to grow into the role more.
Really liked the musical staging particularly in Tango Maureen and La Vie Boheme. Roger does not play guitar in Your Eyes, I have always thought getting Roger to play guitar at that point a bit land and contrived. Take Me As I Am left me a bit underwhelmed though.
Ross Hunter did not have enough edge or intensity as Roger. Lucie Jones' Maureen was ok but could be more of a pouty diva.
Liked the design but from where we were sitting, in the circle, some faces were obstructed. In the parents's quartet we could not see any of them.
The sound was also a bit on the quiet side. Yes this meant every voice and lyric was clearly audible but felt it lost it's rocky edge.

Totally agree. This was the first show my partner and I ever saw together in the west end and for that reason holds a special connection. I was obsessed with 'All For Laura' for months afterwards.
Will be front of the queue when it is revived.

Shame that ITV have decided not to do a Live musical this year. I live in hope that they do a British cast version of 'Hairspray' to preserve Michael Ball's Edna on screen. Add Les Dennis as Wilbur and Katherine Kelly as Velma and they are onto a winning combination.

I was this in Glasgow this week. The star of the show is the four boys who play Presley, Cash, Perkins and Lewis. Incredible musical performances both vocal and instrumental. The book is ok, a poor man's Jersey Boys.

I also miss 'Do The Sacred Mass' that was eventually dropped from Sister Act. Also prefer the original 'How I Got The Calling'.
