Full price at TKTS. I have not seen any discounts. Hence the empty seats.

Balcony shut. Grand circle 20% full and Dress circle 60% full. Will this last? I want to see this but the issue is the prices! £99.50 for front stalls and circle and £62.50 to sit at what basically is the back of the stalls. Plus I really don't think Audra is a "name" over hear - I know this would be heresy to the Mark Shentons of the world who basically worship her but I don't think she is known over here. I may take up the suggestion further up the thread by vabbian and go for row G of the circle for £19.50.

The blinds were the original production at Drury Lane, directed by Nicholas Hytner.

... don't worry, I'm sure if you just turn up they'll hand you £200 pocket-money anyway, then let you go on your way. Or they will give you £150 for a new pair of shoes!

WEL isn't kind to performers with sound issues, performing "cold", open air concert/festival vibe rather than a theatricl experience. So it is unfair to judge a performance on the basis of this alone.
I have seen both Amber and Marisha in performance at the Savoy and I can say that both are incredible live. Amber has the "better" voice, but is not especially a strong actress but has the "star quality". Marisha (IMO) is the better actress and is very emotional vocally - really digging deep with the vocals, but hasn't got the "voice" of Amber. At the interval after AIATY the interval chat was buzz of " how does she do that every night?" To which I thought "she doesn't". I would think Marisha would struggle to deliver the performance I saw every night.

I've never been in a show that started on time. Always five minutes past start time. I have noticed this recently in the West End. The house it fully in but the doors are still open and everyone just sits there. It is almost like there is a policy of waiting for late arrivals.

There is definitely a show to be written about the backstage of Dreamgirls at this theatre!

Caught this the other evening thanks to a £20 Today Tix Rush Ticket.
It wasn't especially my cup of tea...not because I was shocked (although I think I was supposed to be) but that I felt I had seen it all before (and better) - Once A Catholic by Mary O'Malley back in the late 70's. John Godber's Bouncers and Teechers and more recently Spring Awakening.
The audience reaction around me was very diverse with people in front of me and to the side sat in stony silence and people behind laughing heartily throughout.
I could not fault the splendid performances and the superb singing of the cast though.

Perhaps people's expectations are higher in London, at the Palladium AND at West End prices?

Opens tonight I believe. It will be fascinating to see what the critics make of it. I suspect more positive than the remarks on here as usual. Lots of availability and offers for this show at the moment. It may do better during the school holidays?

I hope the show does make back its investment as a minimum. It's a quality production and their ambition should be rewarded. Couldn't agree more! Otherwise it will be the last we see of shows mounted on this scale ever again. Back to the musicals with the 5 piece band and 8 in the ensemble (with 2 costumes each) desperately trying to fill a huge stage.

So......they don't anticipate 42nd St having an extended long run then.

The reviews I would say are generally very good but not raves - apart from Mark Shenton (5*) who raves about virtually everything to make his reviews meaningless.
Am currently trying the £20 lottery tickets on Today Tix this week for this but am notoriously unlucky when it comes to lottery seats!

I caught this show (for the 3rd time) on Monday evening, thanks to a £25 rush ticket on Today Tix! Row A centre! I concur with what alece10 has said above. It is just such an astonishing spectacle.
C J Johnson (?) was on for Sheena Easton and was fabulous. Too good for the role really - great acting and comedy chops although not quite the voice of Easton. Clare Halse was astonishing again.
Gallery closed but otherwise very busy I would have said.
It is warm in Drury Lane though - I don't think they can put air con in due to the listed status of the building - the cast were sweating!

Currently not on TKTS. Lot's of availability at these prices of course. Dynamic pricing gone mad - clearly there is not sufficient demand for this show at these prices. I will be watching to see if they come down - even at the last minute! Surely they don't want empty tables and front stalls seats?

Unless you win the Today Tix lottery for £20 though, the stage seats, stalls table seats and front row stalls are £99.50 on the Delfont Mackintosh website! Too expensive for me.....

Have they spent more than £8.94 on production values?

Yes, Brian J Smith was wonderful as the Gentleman caller in The Glass Menagerie in truly the best scene of the play, but with hindsight, perhaps, this was due to the wonderful performance of Kate O'Flynn as Laura. He was totally unconvincing in this. When one of the two leads in basically a two hander production isn't up to the mark inevitably a weak production results. Not helped by an intimate play totally lost on the vast expanse of the Chichester main stage.
With both this and 40 Years On being below par, the Chichester season has got off to a shaky start this year.

Oh yes that NT production and that infamous drum revolve used to it's full capacity. Alan Bennett script if I remember rightly?

If ever they did a musical about Ethel Merman - Wendi Peters would be a nap for the role!
She was the only good thing about this production.

It's an utter disgrace and totally disrespectful to trained professional actors. I wonder how he would feel if actors turned up on his team to play cricket! Julian Clary batting for the other team.

"two separate worlds of unequal interest" is my most favourite review summary of late (sincerely!) An even better quote would be" two separate worlds of equal un-interest"!

Yes, I enjoyed the Riverside Studios production - I knew I had seen a revival recently but could not remember where. I did not like the traverse staging and the venue was a bit of a barn if I remember correctly.
