I want to book to see this and thinking about booking the two seats at either end of row H or J. For those of you that have seen it, is it better to sit at the either the far left side or far right side in terms of effects or things you might miss/get a better angle of? Or doesn't it matter? Thinking specifically of the car and also it's reveal at the end. I've not seen the show before so try not to spoil it too much, but just wondered if sitting at one end is better than the other end. Many Thanks!!

If anyone can get to Edinburgh, The Jamie film has a screening at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on 20th August. it's at the Festival Theatre and seems to have sold well, but they are still quite a few seats left in the upper circle. I suppose the view from there will still be good if they're just projecting it onto the curtain at the front of the stage. (I'm assuming that's how they do it? I've never seen a film there.) You pay what you want up to £10.
I just thought I'd post the info on here as in case anyone is interested and can go.
I can't believe my luck seeing this from a Facebook ad today. I'd got over my initial disappointment from a few months ago that the film doesn't appear to be getting cinema release. Now I get to see it in a cinema-like setting, and early too. I'm so excited!!!!

Wish I could share the enthusiasm for the London run but this was honestly one of the most tedious, boring musicals I sat through this year. Each to their own. Fair enough, it's funny how we all see things differently. To me this has gone right up to the top of my list becoming my favourite musical, I find it so powerful and uplifting. it's not something I would ever describe as tedious or boring, but the world would be a very dull place if we all thought exactly the same about everything.

This is so awful! What a horrible name change. Who ever thought this was a good idea?! I'll refuse to ever call it that, even if it causes some confusion over the phone. It'll always be the Theatre Royal Drury Lane or just Drury Lane to me.

I saw the screening of Cabaret last night at the DCA in Dundee. I've always loved the film version, It's a masterpiece in my opinion! It was so good seeing it at the cinema!
Also looking forward to the screening of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg which will look wonderful on a big screen!

I had a wonderful time down in Liverpool last Wednesday seeing this.
it was my fourth time seeing the show. this time from the front row. What can I say, it was absolutely phenomenal again! Read further at your own risk. I apologise for the gushing spew that follows…
The show itself is just so beautiful. Based on the 2001 French film of the same name (which I still haven’t seen). It's very quirky and sometimes surreal. This at times leads to hilarious moments like a dancing garden gnome, suicidal goldfish and nightmarish Figs! It’s unmistakable Frenchness (is that a word 😂) adds a charm to it as well and I don’t think the show could work nearly as well without it, like they appear to have tried on Broadway.
At its heart though it's all about human connection and the need for it. This theme leads to some very powerful touching moments as we follow Amelie’s journey, trying to figure out the world around her.
“Amelie” is played by Audrey Brisson who is just extraordinary in the role, giving a very energetic yet nuanced performance. She perfectly captures the quirks and vulnerabilities of her character, and is amazingly captivating, drawing you in to Amelie’s world every moment she is on stage, which is a lot. She’s hardly off it! Her voice is beautiful too. I’d never heard of or seen her in anything before but will definitely be keeping an eye on her in the future – She’s an absolute star!
She’s joined by an extremely talented group of actor-musicians who all work so hard playing the various other characters in the show and bringing the beautiful score to life, effortlessly working together to create something quite magical. They’re all such a joy to watch. I’ve never seen a company of actors quite like them. It was great also getting to see Chris Jared this time as "Nino" (having seen Danny Mac the previous 3 times) he was excellent!
Talking of the score. It’s just lovely, filled with rich, gorgeous melodies enhancing the emotional moments of the piece so well when they come. “The Girl With the Glass” is a stunning example of this. Special mention also has to be given to the musical arrangements which beautifully evoke the Parisian setting and are so different to the previous Broadway incarnation – in the best possible way. Side note. If this production does not get a cast recording, it’ll be such a crime. The cast performing this score, with these new arrangements is really something to behold and deserves to be preserved. Plus I really, really want a CD 😂
The set design is brilliant too. The highlight being Amelie’s apartment, situated behind a clock-face at the top of the stage, that requires Amelie to be whisked up by a flying lampshade in order to reach it!
So, as you can probably tell by now, I absolutely adore this show. It’s my new favourite and brings such joy to my heart every time I see it! Maybe that's a given though from someone who’s seen it 4 times and traveled down to Liverpool to see it from the front row 😂
I will be seeing it again at the Other Palace and would highly recommend anyone In or near London to give this one a shot. I did, not knowing anything about the film, and am very very glad I made that decision.
Now to go and seek out the original film me thinks…

I am sure it will be open in three weeks. If it is to close soon I would imagine it will be when Katherine leaves. Thanks for reassuring me!! Fingers crossed it will be, was just panicking that I wouldn't get to see it. Can't wait to see Katherine!

I didn't realise that Steph just started her run back at the show today. The same day they put up posers of SOMEONE ELSE all around New York. That's pretty disrespectful. But isn't this what they do to her ALL THE TIME, from what I've seen? The woman's a superstar, she deserves so much more credit for keeping Waitress running while the producers are star casting left, right and center. I saw Steph as Jenna last April between Sara leaving and KMP starting. She was absolutely incredible and I've been obsessed with Waitress ever since! Can't wait see it here with KMP and then hopefully Lucie.

I know some who weren't there may be sick of all the videos, but for those wanting to experience two of the standing ovations from the wings... as soon as Clare Rickard says "wasn't she terrific" everyone was back on their feet and Clare just burst into tears. So amazing! Thank you so much for sharing that. it's Insane! I'm getting chills just watching that so I can't even Imagine what it must have been like in the theatre!! With all these reports and videos I'm regretting my decision so much not to come down for the last day. You're all extremely lucky to have experienced that in person.

I was meant to see last night's show. I just wish I checked here before I left as I'd not received any email or anything so drove all the way there which takes about an hour only to be told the show had been cancelled. Still, not the end world. Exchanged my tickets for Saturday so hopefully no one's ill. I will check before I leave next time. Really looking forward to it anyway!

I saw this for the last time last Friday from seat AA4 - unbelievably good again! I swear nothing will ever be able to touch the feeling of pure joy you get seeing this show!
The ensemble were brilliant as usual. Philip Bertioli and Steph Parry were both great as Billy and Maggie. I loved Bonnie Langford's take on . I'd only seen Sheena before as Dorothy who I liked but much preferred Bonnie Langford, her take felt warmer and and I found her hilarious! Clare Halse was just fabulous again, every time I've seen it her energy has been off the charts and she topped it this time - Insane! I can't believe she's managed to keep that level of energy up since last March. She must have some serious stamina. There really isn't a weak link in the cast.
It was a really lively audience (in a good way) too with loud cheers at the end of most songs and a standing ovation at the end. This probably added to the on stage energy and together we all created the symbiotic joy fest this show is known for. I'm so jealous of everyone going to the last night the atmosphere will be incredible I'm sure!!
I'm just sad that it's closing and it was my last time seeing it on stage. Still, it's had a good run and at least we'll have the cinema broadcast to look forward to.
For those taking about a possible DVD after the cinema broadcast. Bonnie told me at stage door that it's first going into cinemas and onto BroadwayHD and hopefully a DVD after that. So from how she said it, it sounds to me like a DVD is not definitely happening yet but they're hopeful. Tap shoes crossed!!

The cinema broadcast of this on Thursday was absolutely magnificent! I was completely bold over when I saw it in person in June and the filmed version didn't disappoint. Everyone really brought their "A" game here and were brilliant. I'm still in awe of Kelli O'Hara voice. When I saw her in the show in London, that's the only time to date that I've been so overwhelmed by a persons vocal ability alone that it has actually made me cry. Every other time that I've cried seeing someone sing on stage, it's always been because I've been emotionally invested in what they're singing about. Kelli O'Hara's version of "Hello Young Lovers" was just something else though! I went right passed chills onto tears. That's something I won't forget in a long time and although I didn't quite have that reaction watching it in the cinema, her voice still soared! It was fantastic being able to see Ruthie Ann Miles as Lady Thiang as well. I saw Naoko Mori last time who I thought was great but I thought Ruthie was Extraordinary!! She acted it so well. She deserves major props too for being able to do the London run, particularly that role as well after the awful year she's had. I don't think I would have been able to do that had I been in her situation. A brilliant night and should add that the sound in our screening was really good too. Also, off topic but re my last post here (since I'm shockingly bad at actually posting my thoughts here at the time ) about seeing The Birthday Party and Julius Caesar. In short, saw both. I really enjoyed Shakespeare. Pinter, not so much..

Thanks everyone for all your advice. I tried to get a ticket to see Julius Caesar but had no luck. I'm in a wheelchair so that can sometimes complicate things. Theatres only have a limited number of wheelchair spaces so when they're gone, they're gone. Having said that though, It does sometimes work to my advantage. Network was a very good example of this. I'd seen on the National Theatre website that it appeared to be sold out for all dates. I thought I would just try anyway though as I know from passed experience that this often doesn't include disabled tickets. Sure enough, When I phoned up, the helpful woman I spoke to said that although the website said it was sold out, I could virtually pick any day I wanted as they had sold very few wheelchair tickets. Anyway, I digress. Because of that then, It looks like the choice has been made for me and I think I will stick to The Birthday Party. Do you think it's still worth me seeing Julius Caesar in the cinema as a first Shakespeare experience, or might it loose something being broadcast in the cinema and I'd be better off waiting to see another exciting production of Shakespeare live in the theatre? Cardinal Pirelli , NeilVHughes and Stephen Thanks for suggesting to do a bit of research. I think that will definitely help. I would If I could underthestudy but I think in this case, I would just add an extra element of immersion to the play by ending up as a prop on the floor that the actors have to step over.

Hi I'm down in London on 16th and 17th of March. I'm seeing Hamilton on the 17th (YAY can't wait) and also meant to be seeing The Birthday Party on the 16th but I'm unsure about whether I want to now or not. You see I've had Hamilton booked since last year and I normally like to book an extra show when I come down to London to get money's worth out of the trip a bit more. I was struggling to figure out what to book as my extra show. After much humming and harring, I decided to go for The Birthday Party but this was mainly because Pearl Mackie was in it as I'd really enjoyed her in Doctor Who. The plot blurb wasn't enticing me too much. I've since found out that her part in this isn't the biggest. That's not a problem but I'm also slightly worried that I won't enjoy the play as well as I've since seen that it's can be quite confusing and hard to follow. I've seen films that have been quite complex and hard to follow before and have enjoyed them but sometimes only "got" and truly appreciated them with repeated viewings. Obviously I won't get a chance to do this with The Birthday Party as I'm so far away from London, so I'm now worried that I won't get it and therefore won't enjoy it very much and then it ends up a wasted opportunity where i could have seen something else instead. Is it really hard to follow? I'm thinking maybe I should try to get a ticket to Julius Caesar at the Bridge Theatre instead as that looks really intriguing. The thing is though, I'm a complete and utter Shakespeare virgin. I'm always wanted to try some of his plays but have never known where to begin. This Production looks very exciting though and I figure it might be a good place to start. Those of you who have seen it, Do you think it's an accessible play and production for a complete newb like me to start off with. I also see that NT Live are broadcasting this into cinemas so maybe I should just see it at the cinema instead but I worry it might loose something from stage to screen and I would hate for my first Shakespeare experience to be disappointing due to something not coming across right in the cinema. Any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated as I'm in a real predicament about this. Thanks a lot!

I saw this last Tuesday night. Bryan Cranston was brilliant, particularly his breakdown scene. The rest of it just didn't click with me I'm afraid. It's weird because on paper it should have been something I really enjoyed. it's themes of exploitation in the media I should have found really interesting but I just didn't for some reason. I think part of the problem for me was the staging. I know what they were trying to do but it just didn't work in my opinion. The almost consist projecting of what was being filmed on the back screen left me feeling a bit disconnected from what the actors were actually doing on stage, as was I unsure whether I was meant to be watching the screen or them perform and it sort of felt like I was watching TV instead of a play being performed live in front of me. I guess this was the point but It took away that connection to the actors you should feel from a live performance somewhat I felt. This wasn't helped when the actors went to the very side of the stage {Spoiler - click to view}or in one case completely out the building so you couldn't even see them meaning you had no choice but to watch them on the screen. The stage seemed very cluttered as well with too much going on a lot of the time. Why was there a restaurant on stage? I feel a lot the staging felt gimmicky and didn't really add anything to the piece. I now want to seek out the movie to see if that works better for me because as a play it just didn't and I wish I'd seen something else while I was in London instead. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though!

I am hearing incredible things about this production. Everyone I hear about it is raving. In a Facebook post I read that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited the show this week. Does anyone know who were on in the leading roles that night? Dave what night did they see the show? I was there last Wednesday.
