Well this was nowhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be based on comments on here.
Huge fan of the original production, and I think they’ve done a pretty decent job here. It’s definitely not a perfect production by any means but it was still a really fun evening out in a beautiful setting. The cast were all excellent, all of the modernisations worked for me, and the dogs were actually hilarious.
That curtain has to go though - it looks like a huge dirty moustache and the cast were constantly getting tangled in it and even having bits of it ripped off and draped around them which was quite distracting.

Saw this for the second time last week, and first time at the new venue. We had Sean Carey who is currently appearing as Cholmondeley and also also Anouk Chalmers on as an understudy (glad they've managed to find a way to keep the show running with cast absences!).
Just as excellent as the first time, and my 70 something year old parents loved it too. I also specifically booked the seats directly in front of where Jak Malone stands to sing Dear Bill and it truly was magical - I can't imagine anyone else performing that number, he does it just so perfectly.
Really hope they can make a cast recording at some point!

Discounts currently available on TodayTix. Was waiting to see if they were going to offer rush tickets but I presume not seeing as the first performance is tonight and they aren’t offering them. But managed to get fairly decent seats with a 40% discount for next week.

I was in A7 last week which was an excellent seat, but I'm glad I'd read on here the possibility of being in the splash/debris zone so I didn't wear nice clothes. I got pretty thoroughly drenched with water a couple of times and I stank of beer on the tube home. Would definitely sit there again though!

Thank you to those that mentioned about the unsold day seats being put online. I was refreshing the Nimax ticketing page (not the page with the calendar that is actually on the play website - that one just continually says 'sold out') repeatedly since 10am, and 3 front row seats appeared at about 10:16. I saw someone mention that they were now £35, but they were £15 each today. Great! Which link did you use? Go to this page on the Nimax site and click ‘book online now’: nimaxtheatres.com/shows/jerusalem/Don’t go to jerusalemtheplay.co.uk and try and book through there - for some reason they don’t show up to date availability and the day seats don’t appear on there

Has anyone had any luck with the Wednesday "pay what you can tickets" yet? I was lucky last week. Waited in the queue about 10 minutes before getting to the front. There were seats dotted around multiple levels but they disappeared very fast - I got row C of the dress circle (going tonight, very excited!). When checking out there was just a selection to choose how much you want to pay in £1 increments, the lowest amount was £1.

Do I need to have seen/read Beginning to follow or is it alright to go in blind? It’s totally different characters and this isn’t a continuation from Beginning at all, so you don’t need to have any knowledge of it

I went to the first preview of this and also really enjoyed it. Definitely not as fun as ‘Beginning’, but very well written and I thought the performances were great.
£10 front row Friday Rush seats are a bargain - the stage is a good height and no blocking issues if sat in the middle.

Managed to get a good seat in row C of the dress circle in the lottery yesterday. I now have a spare ticket for another date that I don’t need, but as I was checking out there was a warning that resale of tickets for this show is strictly prohibited. I’ll check with ATG before putting it on the notice board.

A couple of small updates from Tim. In a Facebook post yesterday remembering winning Best New Musical at the Oliviers 5 years ago:
“Groundhog Day will be back next year, mark my fkn words. xxx”
Also in a post about his turn in Jesus Christ Superstar:
“And I'm in it, playing the only musical theatre role I've ever really wanted to play*.
*I’Il do phil connors one day😈”
Can’t say I can see Tim in the role, but to be honest I’m so desperate for this show to come back I’d take pretty much anyone in the lead at this point.
Maybe we need to change the thread title seeing as it looks like it’s definitely not happening this year?

Never booked with the Donmar on a ticket release day before, was surprised how easy it was. With there being no online queue I was expecting a painful experience, but there was plenty of availability and I had my confirmation email instantly.

Got front row stalls in the TodayTix rush. Definitely feel like I got my £20 worth watching the performance alone. Thought the play was fine but nothing special.

Transferring to Riverside Studios. Trying to click the link in the priority access email I received but the website must be being hammered as it won't load at all. No dates mentioned in the email

From twitter it seems like there might be news soon to be incoming for this show! Hoping for another run, but could potentially be something more cast album related as I know a lot of people have been asking for that. On Facebook it says: “Join the Official Operation Mincemeat Mailing List by 9am tomorrow for exclusive access to priority tickets.” So I presume the announcement is another run/transfer/tour?

Adored this tonight! I went with very high expectations and they were all exceeded. It’s rare I leave a play wanting to buy the text but I’ll definitely be buying a copy and having a further read.
Excellent performances all round, and the direction kept me enthralled throughout.
Only negative is the theatre itself. Was sat in the £20 seats in the circle which were excellent value for money view-wise, but it took a good 10 minutes for my knees to come back to life and the rattling A/C vent above was pretty annoying

Really enjoyed this this evening. A gorgeous score expertly performed - there’s some real vocal powerhouses on that stage! And the band are amazing too.
I wouldn’t say it’s a perfect show, but I had a good evening.
Definitely agree with the previous comment of sitting on the regular side of the theatre - I was on the other side and definitely felt like the other side got more of the ‘I’m going to stand here with my arms open wide and belt the final note’ moments.

All of the times I’ve been to Ellen’s I’ve been alone! I don’t care at all what anyone thinks of me being on my own - I want waffles and show tunes and dammit I’m going to get them. Ended up having a really nice chat with the couple on the next table on one occasion too.
Get there for when it opens and you won’t have to queue, then just stay as long as you want

The food at Ellen's Stardust Diner is awful - not worth it even for the experience. I’ve had multiple decent breakfasts there. One plus of going for breakfast is that the coffee has free refills so after you’ve finished eating you can just stay for as long as you want with unlimited coffee and unlimited performances.

Hmm is £15 standing in the Royal Circle worth it or do we think there might be offers/day/rush closer to the time? From the website: “30 Daily Pay What You Can seats released each week from 6 April”, and “A limited number of standing tickets will be available at the box office on the day of performance. “ I’m presuming this is the only kind of ‘rush’ they’ll be offering. There’s a link to sign up for information on the website too.

Very pleased with that offer! Looks like the seats they are offering in the stalls are usually £77.50 later in the run. They're disappearing pretty quickly!

Caught the first night with the new cast last night. I went with very low expectation based on the comments here, but we loved it!
It’s really stupid and there were a couple of periods of about 10 minutes that could have been cut, but the rest was very enjoyable - my face was aching by the end from laughing.
I thought the whole cast were pretty great. Holly Stars was definitely the stand out for me - I’d not heard of them before but will definitely be looking out for what they do next. Jujubee and Kitty were also excellent.
The audience lapped it up with a full standing ovation at the end. There’s some (very) steep discounts to be found and I definitely feel like I got my moneys worth. I think maybe if I’d have paid the full asking price I might have had a different opinion.

When will this thread be about Spring Awakening again? Asking for a friend. Every time I see a new post has been added to this tread I get excited thinking a transfer has been announced!

For anyone that missed the initial ticket release before it totally sold out (like me!), this morning they've released some more tickets at various price points for 2 dates: 17th May and 14th June.

I’m so grateful to this board for bringing this show to my attention - I’m sure I would have missed it otherwise.
Definitely lived up to the hype! I had a huge smile on my face from start to finish, even in the parts where I was mopping tears off my cheeks (Dear Bill is one of the best musical performances I’ve seen in quite a while! I was in bits by the end!)
Looks like it’s totally sold out now for the rest of this run. This show deserves success - transfer please! I could definitely see this in the Criterion or somewhere similar. I am desperate to take all my friends to see it already! And I also need a cast recording ASAP!

Caught this the other night. Managed to get a premium seat in the dress circle for £20 by booking a day seat direct with DMT. I only really went because I adore Stephanie, and I also decided to go last week because I saw the Giovanna was currently off due to an injury and I was hoping to see her understudy (alas, the night I went was Giovanna's first night back, complete with moon boot). Thought this was entirely mediocre and a story we've seen done much better so many times before. Stephanie was wonderful and I'm glad I went just to see her live. James was good, Elliot was fine, Giovanna matched my very, very low expectations. The jump scares between scenes made me roll my eyes - they were so cheap and unimaginative. Glad I went, but glad I didn't pay the full prices they're charging. Spotted the ending within the first 20 minutes or so {Spoiler - click to view} Instantly guessed it when the Alexa didn't respond for the first time. This felt like such an obvious giveaway to me I don't know how anyone could miss it! Then when the ending did come it just sort of fizzled out.

Just to counter some of the recent negativity in this thread - I went to this last night as a group of 4, and all of us are HUGE fans of the film. We all LOVED LOVED LOVED it!
Everything was just so much fun! One of the best nights I've had at the theatre in ages. All of our favourite songs translated perfectly onto stage, and the new additions worked so well. Backstage Romance was definitely a highlight - I'd pay to just see that one number again!
The sets, costumes and choreography were stunning.
I went in with high expectations and they were all completely exceeded.
I can't wait to go back again!

Such a huge shame! Feel so sorry for everyone involved. The rest of the Southbank Centre run is going ahead and the final performance is now 22nd Jan.
