Still no mention that it’s Part One. I have a feeling that they’re not going to call it part one. This one will simply be Wicked. And then the second one will have a subtitle. Actually you could be onto something, that’s what Dune did and they did it successfully.

What about her appearance offends you? Already explained above - she looks a lot older than Ariana Grande, and she's also odd looking in a way that just doesn't fit Elphaba for me. I can see why someone might like the look for Elphaba, but it doesn't work for me. It's a personal thing, I get that not everyone will agree and that's fine. We all imagine different things. … okay.

The thing is, I don’t doubt her talent. Her voice isn’t the problem for me. It’s her personality and to some extent her appearance. What about her appearance offends you?

Jason Donovan really likes the jump into a role in a tour and doing the bare minimum. Seeing him do the Pharoah's song in Joseph like 4 times... Oh help. I saw him as Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun and that convinced me to never watch him in anything ever again. It truly does take a great talent to play a Southern American man who regularly slips into an Australian accent but sings with a posh English accent.

It did make me laugh when he said that Elphaba's father was a character in the movie, I wish someone had pointed out to him that of course he's in it, he's the wizard! (though i know thats nott what he meant) The new songs aren't in the first film, so he wouldn't have seen/heard them. Both Glinda and Elphaba get a new song. Elphaba's song is called There No Place Like Home and is about her being banished and not being able to see her family. The title is a great Wizard of Oz tie-in. Glinda gets a song called The Girl In The Bubble. Both are ballads. Haha what family? Like nessarose? she doesn’t really care for her father, or do you mean family as a representative word and that would include glinda and fiyero? She loves her father very much in both book and stage. In the musical it’s very evident she wants nothing but his approval despite never getting a hint of warmth from him. In the book she’s very close with him, they have a loving relationship.

Check out @/sweatyoracle recent on tiktok… yikes! All of that sounds pretty normal for a test screening to be honest. Sounds like the movie is on a good track. Not to disparage his video but he says a whole lot of nothing. He doesn’t get any new information. - We knew where Idina and Kristen’s cameos appeared. - We knew that Schwartz and Holzman also appeared in the same song. - We knew the Wizard sings Sentimental Man. - We knew The Wizard and I ended on a cliff top. - We knew the claim that all singing was done live on set wasn’t true. All new information he does claim to know about, extended dance sequences, Elphaba’s father appearing in Defying Gravity, etc, is something that could easily be explained by “oh it must have been cut after test viewings”. I’d have believed him more if we spoke about the new scenes in details, talked about the new songs. Or even gave us anything that wasn’t just a repeat of what we’ve seen through leaks and set pics.

Sally Ann Triplett goes in as Schneider, but will need to wait for the next pairing to be able to see her...! I wondered when Sally would take on the role. I saw her as Schneider in Paris and she was wonderful. The other casting though… it’s a steep decline.

Excited for Lucie, but who tf is he? A very, very good veteran performer who will do a fantastic job and who I’m glad to see be given a starring role like this.

Do we know who’s playing tess yet we were supposed to find out in February It must be a big name as they’ve announced Tess understudies but not the actor played Tess herself.

Just seen this, I’m already booked to see Les Mis en français in Paris in December and was looking to see what else was on at the time to add to the trip. Not too sure about this though! I saw Rocky Horror at Lido2 a few weeks ago and have to say it wasn’t the greatest, so I’m not sure about dropping €100 on this when we’ve got Imelda Staunton in the role at the Palladium this summer! I did like the venue itself though. I’d love to see a musical there with more diegetic scenes - Dreamgirls, La Cage etc. Bit sad I missed their Cabaret! Thankful, the Lido can’t be blamed for the shoddy Rocky Horror as that was just the terrible UK tour doing a Paris stop. I saw Cabaret in the Lido in 2022 and it was fab. I know the lure of the Imelda Dolly will be strong but I’m hopeful the Paris production will get a terrific actress for the main role and make the journey worth doing.

I’d love to see a truly dark production of The Sound of Music. The threat of the Nazis invading your country to the point you have to leave everything and flee, that’s a very dark turn of events. I don’t want a dystopian style production, just something where the initial joy and sugary sweetness start to give way to the anxiety everyone must have felt during that time.

Saw this today, Ian was off and we had the second understudy, Tim Roberts, as Jesus. I saw the original run in Regents Park, but found this production better. The cast were even stronger and I think being inside helped to focus it even more without being distracted by surroundings. Although initially disappointed not to see Ian after all the hype and clips I'd seen, I thought Tim was excellent. Maybe his big notes weren't quite at Ians level, but that's a very minor quibble. He is certainly the strongest Jesus vocally and acting I've seen. The final part of the show I found very moving and powerful. Shem Omari James as Judas, just out of this world voice. And Hannah Richardson commanded the stage as Mary with again ridiculously strong vocals. I also couldn't believe that all 3 leads had so relatively few leading acting credits. More than matched any more experienced performances I've seen. I enjoyed the overall concept more than I did in Regents Park too. The main two negatives for me were firstly Julian Clary. Yes he is funny and very good at what he does, but he does some what break the tension and focus from the story to him. Secondly the show itself. It really relies on having some prior knowledge to help add context and depth as to who some of the supporting characters are and motivations. But you can't deny the power of the music. Overall though this was one of the most powerful, and vocally strong, pieces of theatre I've ever seen I went to uni with Tim and he is genuinely one of the nicest people. I’m so happy to hear he’s getting good reviews!

I don’t know Matt Henry’s work other than he’s a fab leading man. But from looks alone he is absolutely perfect to step into Stanley Tucci’s shoes!

I really wouldn’t mind the tour being rebooted entirely from scratch. The new version is so barebones compared to previous iterations. This 100% needs to happen, they have largely used the same cast for a number of years now, and the same set for far longer, it is starting to feel really tired now, so much so that I have skipped the current tour when it was in Manchester and Cardiff recently, normally I would have seen it at either (or both) locations. I saw the show in Inverness thanks to free tickets and I did thank god I never paid for the show. It’s unlikely I ever will pay to see this tour again. I saw the show in 2010 in Edinburgh with David Bedella, Hayley Flaherty and Richard Meek, and I remember that production being full of life and the staging being really interesting and immersive. You have to appreciate Hayley and Richard committing to the same role 14 years later but come on now, let the stockings rest.

Why why why have they cast two Australian performers in the lead roles instead of UK casting? I think we're all a bit 'done' with seeing the Strallens work their way through it but there must be UK performers chomping at the bit for these roles. To be fair the same argument is happening over there as a lot of UK performers are cast in leading roles instead of Australian performers.

Well cynthia and ariana confirmed at the oscar’s! So a new trailer or just showing the old one? I suppose that strengthens the rumour. Who knows, we might get a new trailer after all!

people have been saying there’s rumors of another trailer at the oscar’s, what is the likelihood of this!!! also why did universal pictures rescind media permission to use the wicked teaser? what does that mean? It’s more likely that the trailer will be attached to a big summer release from the studio. It’s rare that a teaser and trailer for such an anticipated movie is released so quickly after one another.

As much as the Kenwright production isn't incredible, they have had some gorgeous casting. Carolyn Maitland and Rebekah Lowings were both stunning as Molly. Hopefully we'll get some good casting this time round. Rebekah is an absolute sweetheart! She stayed with me during the Ghost tour and was such a lovely person.

When are we getting a tour of this? Loved it in the WE and would love to see it again but closer to home. I think it would do well in the regions and would make a nice change from seeing the regular Jukebox tours we get. Tour starting later this year/early next year.

What are the chances of a second Wicked movie look at the Oscar’s, 3/10? High or not possible? No doubt they’ll attach the second trailer to a big summer blockbuster. We’d have been more likely to get the teaser at the Oscars rather than the Super Bowl.

No, that is a screen shot from Wizard of Oz. In the book they were silver. The movie changed them to ruby / sequinned shoes to stand out against the yellow brick road on film. Yes, but there was reports that the ruby slippers would make an appearance in the Wicked movie's so I was wondering if the slippers will be changing colors back and forth from silver to ruby Doubtful. In the trailer they were silver when on Nessarose’s feet in the Oz Dust Ballroom, and they were silver when Dorothy arrives to see the Wizard. So it doesn’t seem like they change colour at any point. We may get a surprise and they’ve been changed in post production, but as it stands it looks like they’re entirely silver.

I agree, but as I said above, I loose interest with someone who posts 'rumours' about a show, and then hides peoples replies. My favourite example, was a teaser of the casting for Mrs Doubtfire that 'when you hear you will be sooo excited', but then hid every reply saying that they know it's Gabriel Vick as if they hold knowledge and information over people. That’s fair. This was exactly the point I made in my original comment that restarted this discussion. Thankfully, manchestertheatrefan wrote it a lot more eloquently than me. I do think the accusation of being petty and small-minded was uncalled for however.
