Ms Tucker tweeted yesterday that she only has 24 shows left as Elphaba which got me thinking how quick this last run has been, but also how consistent both Rachel and Alice are.
Apart from a few weeks immediately after cast change when Laura Emmitt was back standing by while Alice got rehearsed up, we've had no green emergencies and the role has only been played by Rachel or Alice - can't remember going so long without an u/s going on or an ex-Elphie getting an emergency call up!

Does any have any tickets for sale or have any idea where I could find two reasonably priced tickets (seated together) for Rachel's last? By reasonably priced I mean both less than £40. I don't think any of the agencies often get allocated too many of the restricted view seats (in the stalls at least). Having just looked at the ATG availability, I suspect the best you'd be able to do is Dress Circle R16 and S16, which are at least directly behind each other, but they're £42.25 each so slightly over your budget. I hadn't realised Wicked had got so expensive on a weekend, I think I just ignored the price on the basis that it was Rachel's last so I'd call it a Christmas present to myself! Also the show is now much more sold than when I booked a few weeks ago! I bought seats in the circle this weekend & paying slightly more than I would usually but there wasn't a huge amount left! Can see this show being a House Full by the time it comes around which is in contrast to the last cast change not being a sell out and this isn't even a full cast exit! Shows you the popularity of particular witches amongst the fan-dom....

Have a great Alice show Michael, let us know what you think - is this your first time seeing her?

I've succumbed to the hype and just booked for cast change... I'm guessing it's going to be crazier than some of the recent ones I've been to but couldn't be left out of an opportunity for some fan-girling!

lol come on sense the irony.... I was joking about the belting but seriously asking how the process works! It's quite difficult to sense irony in writing lol Haha ok I'll let you off this time 😉! No I was being tongue in cheek about the belting - I would love to know how much belting the midwives need to do in audition though!

How much of the audition process is based on CV and previous experience versus the actual audition? I mean, anyone can belt out the end of Wizard and I (!!) but how much acting can you put across in an audition? Seriously? You sound like that idiot journalist who said musicals are inferior to straight plays because anyone can belt out a song. Not anyone can belt out the end of the Wizard and I. And certainly not anyone can sing Defying Gravity or No Good Deed. lol come on sense the irony.... I was joking about the belting but seriously asking how the process works!

Not being cheeky I genuinely don't know much about the process...

I'm also still not 100% convinced the guy the tour cast were complaining about is the same Emma Hatton nut....

Are there any other shows that conjure up this kind of hysteria?! I love a bit of fan-girling as much as the next Ozian... but it's a bit crazy!

I know some performers don't mind it if it's not distracting them which i highly doubt audioing the show will distract them as they can't even tell! That's really not how it is... The majority find it very disrespectful, regardless as to whether it is "distracting" or not. If you want to do that, then don't bother going to the theatre. Aside from that, it is an infringement of copyright to both the artist and the producers of the show. If you so say love this show and the performers in it so much, then why do you do something that goes against the very thing they specifically tell you not to do? Maybe they should have a warning before the show to ask people not to record it.... oh wait...

Does anyone have any idea why Carina has been out of the show for so long? Not really like her to be out for so long I came here just now to ask the same question! It must be a dream for Helen as 1st u/s, it can't be far off two full weeks of shows now?! That rarely happens for a Glinda in the UK!

I've never heard anything quite like it - Elphie sounds like she's laughing at one point so I guess she wasn't expecting it!!
Loved Morrible!! Sounds very menacing in a different language!

Lauren James Ray has returned to the cast to play Nessa today so a Nessa shortage as Helen Woolf (2nd cover) is on for Glinda!

Some talented lungs out there in Wicked land and fortunate enough to have seen three of them live...
Jackie "the belt" Hughes steals the show for me I'm afraid! It's effortless and powerful without being shouty...

Whoever wrote the article evidently doesn't have much experience of attending shows. Saying "it is virtually unheard of for four cast members to be struck down by illness at the same time" is ridiculous. I've seen a number of shows over the years where at least 4 members of the cast have been off sick out of a 30-odd person company so they have had to cut ensemble tracks because so many ensemble members have either been off themselves or covering for sick principals. Don't forget it's only, what, 3 weeks into previews. Why on EARTH would they have more than 3 Effies stage ready before the show has even been finalised? It's perfectly heard of for them all to be ill. Let's be honest- no Effie, no show. Yes but didn't Amber tweet to say it wasn't her... therefore it's not a case of No Effie no show?! They had an Effie, she just couldn't/shouldn't go on!

A regular night at Wicked! We've had some evenings where swings are covering multiple tracks or parts aren't going in for ensemble due to main cast absence!

Helen Woolf must be hardly able to believe her luck getting to go on so much. Usually the Glinda understudies only seem to get to go on very occasionally, much less often than the Elphaba ones. I can still remember dashing down to London back in December 07 when the word got round that Caroline Keiff was finally on for Glinda. Yeah Carina's not tweeted since the end of October and I'm not sure she's had a show since then either so great for Helen to get on so much! As you say, it's rare for a Glinda u/s to get so much stage time!

When was the last time any show was cancelled?! It's not something I've heard of... (although Wicked must have come close on occasion with their regular witch shortage!)

However, having thought about it, I'm fine with merging as long as it's clear in the title where the production takes place. I.e. a few people have been talking about 42nd Street at the Châtelet in Paris, so it's different from the upcoming production in Drury Lane, so I'd say it should have its own thread and not get muddled with the other production. I'd second this... we have two Wicked threads in the musicals board so merging is fine if we keep the titles, and have Wicked International Tour as a 3rd thread. It's bad enough trying to keep up with the goings on in London, it would be a nightmare to have just one thread for everything (not that merging threads has been suggested... I'm just saying!) 😝

You do realise it could be a multitude of reasons why she called out on Saturday and also tonight, not least she's a mother with a young child!
You've just criticised her recent vocals and then assumed that's why she's missed two shows?! Surely if she's not up to it she wouldn't have done Saturday evening?!

I think the low note is the standard and how it's written but those who don't have the range may instead use the higher note. Ah yes sorry, what I meant was that I've actually heard more take the higher note than lower - even though it's the lower one that's written unlike Glinda's optional high note to end NOMTW.

I'm not sure it's that uncommon for an actress to sing a high note? I've heard NDJ and Ashleigh sing the high note on tour, Emma regularly sang it and thinking about it, I've probably seen more high note performances than low ones...

A friend went to see Wicked and didn't like it - after banging on about it I convinced her to come and see it again with me... it then turned out she was late for the first showing & was allowed in after What is this Feeling when the classroom scene started!
She said she wondered why she didn't really understand what was going on first time haha!!

I think you've got David Gale as Fiyero today not Oliver. West End Understudies tweeted earlier.
