Sharon D Clarke was pretty much the only winner I could be remotely excited about - the fact that Dear Evan Hansen won Best Musical and Best Actor and & Juliet won the rest says it all about the lack of quality and competition on the musicals side this year. & Juliet was a very fun night out. Didn't get to see Dear Evan Hansen but I understand it doesn't really have a female lead role you can nominate. So it was between that and Poppins. And I didn't think much of Poppins. Yeah, happy enough with that.

I’ve just caught up on the show from last night and taking it for what it was (and could be, in the current circumstances) I really enjoyed it. Lots of emotional speeches and messages that felt right. I’m super pleased Andrew Scott and Indira Varma won for the hilarious Present Laughter. Lovely conversations with Sir Ian McKellen, ALW and Don Black, all so passionate about theatre ❤️

When is Sharons all female ‘Aspects’ starting? Lovely of her to rewrite ‘Love Changes Everything’ for the Lord while he was sat there. It reminded me of John Partridges ‘Bui Doi’ in the first ‘Miss Saigon’ tour. It’s not that it was too much....oh no, yes, it was just too much. But only in my opinion.

I hated it. I was surprised Mary Poppins won so much, isn't it basically the same production that was up for awards last time it was in the West End?

Whilst I was glad the TV broadcast went out at all and there were some performances. I can’t help but feel nothing came close to the joy of Hairspray on BGT.

I feel it was a shame there weren’t songs from the other nominated best musicals. I know it’s always trickier for closed shows but they are all kind of closed at the moment. I’d have loved representation for Waitress and especially Amelie

Why Love Changes Everything? Surely an Uncle Steve considering its his 90th birthday year. Or failing that a song for the moment such as You'll never walk alone

Why Love Changes Everything Think it was a tribute to Don Black and I suppose Andrew LW was handy too!!

Sharon D C destroyed that song. I love her but it was absolutely painful.

Sharon D C destroyed that song. I love her but it was absolutely painful. Yes I agree. There are some songs where to mess with the arrangement just doesn't work, especially not in the style it was sung.

I've always found Sharon a bit hit and miss for how she sings. Mainly hit, and when she's great she's very, very great, but every now and then there's something like this, which I found horrible.
Love Changes Everything is normally a bit cheesy, but it's joyously cheesy. Mucking about with the arrangement removed that joy and turned it into something naff.
It might work in the context of a new musical, but as a stand alone performance, I couldn't help but wonder why on earth anyone would think it was a good idea.

Funny how people hear things differently. Love Changes Everything has always sounded bombastic and insincere ever since Michael Ball first oversang it. Audra McDonald just about saved it when joined by the glorious Marin Mazzie, Judy Kuhn and two better songs by ALW. Sharon D Clarke made it a bit more soulful and personal, and I actually started to believe a lyric that I normally dismiss as drivel. Huge improvement to my ears, but we all hear things differently.

Amanda Holden recently had the number 1 Album in the UK. So yeah... people definitely hear things differently!

"don't shoot me" but I really like it. Everyone has the right to their opinion. I love singers that others hate. I like the song choices on her album and I have certainly heard worse singers.
