Sadly, can't actually get to any this year but West Side Story and Havana Meets Kingston would be my choices. God bless the iplayer!

God bless the iplayer indeed. As always quite a few I am interested in but the acoustics aren’t great and prommers are quite unique ... god bless the iplayer

prommers are quite unique First prize for euphemism of the day! Have you seen this tonyloco? I seem to remember you asking last year, post Proms, where you could see John Wilson live.

Have you seen this tonyloco? I seem to remember you asking last year, post Proms, where you could see John Wilson live. Thanks, TallPaul. Yes, I have seen the Proms schedule. I am always happy about John Wilson performances but I have two questions which I will ask on the individual threads for On the Town and West Side Story

I like the Proms, although I don't really know much about classical music really. I've been gradually learning over the years. I don't like modern stuff much and I don't tend to enjoy choral things. I like big sweeping orchestral pieces which often turn out to be Russian, and I like Bach and Mozart. I'm not really sure what else. Oh, and the one I really loved last year was the Aurora one with the part-lecture about Mozart. I went once, maybe 8 or 9 years ago, to a couple of Bach proms which I enjoyed. I've been going to classical concerts in Sheffield too, trying to learn a bit - some I've loved, some I've hated.
Looking at the programme this year, there's a lot I don't recognise. I'm excited about the Beethoven Emperor - I LOVE the Emperor concerto. I heard a bit of it when I was about 13 and liked it, without knowing what it was. I was humming it one day and my grandfather heard me and said that was Beethoven, and lent me his record of it, which he then refused to take back. I can't play it now (no record player) but the Emperor always reminds me of my grandad.
I see that the Aurora orchestra are doing another prom that looks like a part-lecture, so I'm excited about that one. Ooooh, and I see the Allegri Miserere is in one prom. I LOVE THAT.

Anyone in the queue? I started at 10030 and now down to 6600 cleaning the oven as I wait to get to the front. God my life is so exciting.

I joined the queue at 9 am and got in at around about number 2650 in the queue. Had booked and was out by 10.00 am. I got everything I wanted (six concerts) but will probably now spend the next few days wondering if I should have booked for anything else. For info I didn't check West Side Story as I didn't want to see that but I did get 3 tickets for the John Wilson 'On The Town'. Thought the booking system was well designed especially if, like me, one of your tickets was for a sixteen year old - very clear signposting of the discounts (unlike the National Theatre, for example).

I got in on the dot at 199 in the queue ... proms planner had come up with the goods on the 3 Proms I'd selected (West Side Story & On The Town amongst them) and I was booked and out (even taking time to check assigned seats against the Monkey's seating plan) by 9.15. Smoothest Proms booking yet

I was on the site at 9am sharp, didn't get into the queue at all until 9.05 but when I did I was about 2450. Checked out by 9.45 with all the seats I wanted for all the Proms I wanted, including the matinee of West Side Story which was apparently the most popular in the Proms planners. No idea about availability for On the Town as I didn't try for that one.
So although the queue is tedious things don't seem to be selling out particularly quickly - I went for the cheapest clear view seats for West Side Story and got them easily. And from the look of the seats I was given there were still quite a lot left when I checked out.

You were both lucky. I also logged on at 9am but didn't get into waiting room until 10 past and I'm currently at 3600. At least the oven is lovely and clean now.

Just realised that the First Night was also one of the top 5 most popular in the planners but I got tickets for that one as well - it does seem to just be a case of the queuing system is slowing everything down but there are still tickets there.

Well the gods were not in my favour today. After sitting in front of my computer for 2.5 hours I find that the proms I want is completely sold out. Gutted as I have always got seats in the past.

That's a shame, happened to me last year, it seems to be the luck of the draw unfortunately! You can always queue on the day though if you still want to go.

If you're still online it may be worth trying again after logging in/out. The proms were all showing as sold out when I first tried (i.e. even selecting one seat gave a 'not enough seats left' warning). But when I logged out of my RAH account I could add the seats as usual.

I tried as suggested and rejoined the queue at 2500 but message on front page to say proms 1, 38 and 39 sold out so didn't bother. I've seen every John Wilson Proms and even more gutted as won't even get a chance to see it on TV as someone reported here that it wasn't being televised. Might do as Theatremonkey suggests and keep trying.
