I know he wasn't a stage or screen star, but Steve Wright was a radio presenter who brought millions of people a lot of happiness through the years. His passing is a shock at just 69 years old. I went through a phase of liking, loathing and then learning to like again his presentation style. As somebody who sang tunelessly along with the tracks he played, and many listeners doing the same in their cars and homes, he made his listeners feel like he was one of them. Just a regular bloke with the privilege of broadcasting on some of the UK's most popular radio stations. As I said, I know he wasn't part of the theatre world, but I feel the flamboyance and entertainment value of his shows merit a mention on here. RIP Steve - a superb radio presenter and by all accounts a decent and kind person.

So nice to see this. I 'grew up' with Steve Wright in The Afternoons. It's a shock that he's died so suddenly.
