Was there a performance schedule on the website the day it went on sale? I must have missed it. No, nothing on the website, although it went on sale last May so wouldn’t have expected them to have those details back then. One of the negatives of booking early unfortunately. However based on this thread there’s still no alternate schedule and Myles is already ducking out of performances, as I found to my cost when I went in the first week of previews. Understandable as it’s a demanding show, but as I and others have said further up thread, the theatre should be making this clear on the cast board, which they’re currently not. The question was more in response to Mr B’s snarky comment that he wasn’t due to be on, like we should have known back in May. I wasn’t expecting to see the poor lamb the day after press night. Wish I could call out if I’ve been up past ten the night before 😴😂 I should have looked for the tell tale midweek 7pm show. Like I said, I don’t feel it would have improved my experience. I just didn’t like it very much.

Hi all, first post here. I did see something on Myles' instagram like a story Q&A and he said that he "doesn't usually do Monday's". This was posted on a fan account - http://instagram.com/p/C5CmkVYKPtN - I wonder if that was just for the previews Kieran also confirmed he does Mondays usually on my IG. I'm going tomorrow evening, I would like to see Myles perform (plenty of time to do so) but I think Kieran will be great in his own right. I do think the theatre should do better to publish who will be performing on the day.

As a show, this is pretty good. Very good performances and obviously some good music. One big shame is the audience. I did yesterdays matinee and even at that, it was a pain. Can't imagine what the evening performance was like.

Can't imagine what the evening performance was like. Totally! Wasn’t too bad when I went, bar a lot of unnecessary whooping at various costume changes or a hat being put on… but I’ve just seen this comment on a sponsored ad for the show on Facebook, which says it all sadly. “…the allowing of audience participation made it one of the best of the shows, you can actually sing, dance and have fun, everyone’s there for a good time and it was had by all.”

I'm not quite sure what to think of this. The musical numbers are excellent, especially Thriller and Smooth Criminal, and Kieran Alleyne's vocals were excellent - especially as he's currently ill judging by his IG stories (even if I don't think he was always singing live). Similarly, the choreography was spectacular, delivered really well by the ensemble. I also really enjoyed Mitchell Zhangazha as middle Michael.
Where my problems lie are in the book - it's really quite dull. I didn't really see much conflict at all - I think more could have been made of his relationship with his father, and MJ quite straightforwardly shoots down any sort of conflict with the interviewer. It's all a bit predictable.

Leaving the debate about whether or not it's appropriate to have MJ celebrated in the West End (which funnily enough has just been done on This Morning!) - am slightly bemused by how spectacular people keep saying the staging of this is. As all the TV and online clips look fairly bog standard jukebox musical fare to me - I certainly haven't seen anything that evokes the mega musical era levels of sets/lights/staging.

I was just about to get on the train to see this when luckily I saw the email saying it had been cancelled. I had only booked the ticket at 1743 and had called the box office at 1816 to confirm something and they gave no indication the show could be cancelled and then received the email at 1822. I don’t know how it works but does seem strange that they don’t have a slightly earlier cutoff for making these decisions when people are having to travel to get there. I had also benefitted from dynamic pricing today and won’t get the same seat if I exchange. Also went to a preview performance when Myles wasn’t on so not having much luck with this show so far!

Conveniently forgetting the rather spectacular set that features for MOST OF THE NUMBER. Well done 👏🏻

I’m sorry that you struggle with other peoples opinions. I just thought it was bang average. Glad you liked it. Well done 👏🏻

Can we just let people have their opinions about the show without suggesting they’re somehow mistaken please. People are allowed to like it/not like it and to say so. Thanks.

Well done 👏🏻 To be fair, mrbarnaby has said nothing to suggest he struggles with other people's opinions. You don't like the show - cool - you've made that clear. Other people like it and it's likely to be very successful at the box office.

I enjoyed MJ immensely, but then I also enjoyed Just For One Day. I'm such a shallow sucker for dry ice and boombastic bass.

Don't they have understudies and swings.
Also just saw an advert for the show on C4.

They do, but my guess is all the MJs are unavailable. Kieran posted on IG after Monday he had the flu. Presumably Myles and the other cover MJ (apologies I’ve forgotten his name) are not available.

I was a bit surprised when I looked in the programme and saw the role of MJ only has 2 people covering; an alternate and a standby, but no other understudies. Most of the more demanding roles usually have 3 (a standby or alternate and then a further 2 understudies).

Most of the more demanding roles usually have 3 (a standby or alternate and then a further 2 understudies). My guess is they just really struggled to find people who could do the role well over here. Traditional musical theatre people aren’t really the right fit for the role… hope everyone gets better soon though!

I remember quite some time ago seeing Karl Queensborough (who played Hamilton) was tweeting about the role and how much he’d love to do it… so perhaps the producers could/are talking to him about it. Perhaps for when Myles departs?

Perhaps for when Myles departs? He’s a MASSIVE MJ fan but I don’t see this role suiting him, so I doubt it. A.Ham, eh? Is this Karl himself trying to spin some PR? 😅

Someone phone Michael Ball and Alfie Boe and tell them they can stand down.

Five minutes before the show was cancelled on Tuesday I was being told by the ticket office that Myles was scheduled and due to be on that evening. He has posted on Instagram today confirming he also has flu.
