Review and production pics from Theatremania.
If you go full screen, the clarity of the images are AMAZING!

Any possibility of this transferring to the West End?

Any possibility of this transferring to the West End? So exited at the possibility that little bit of pee came out. Sits down, head between his knees and breathes heavily into a brown paper bag and pulls out his asthma inhaler (I'm not even an asthmatic)

Any possibility of this transferring to the West End? Honestly, if a transfer is too much to hope for, then a cinema broadcast would do. No way I'm getting to New York to see this. (We're going for Hamlet, but that doesn't open until June!).

Is this one produced by ATG? I know it's in one of their Broadway theatres. If it's one of their productions, that might increase the likelihood of a transfer.

One major issue for a transfer is, I imagine, Jake's schedule. He's got 4 movies scheduled for release this year and another couple in development. He was supposed to open in Lanford Wilson's Burn This (also at the Hudson) next month, but that got pushed to next season due to scheduling conflicts. No new date for that has been announced. Sunday in the Park was slotted in its place as the opening production at the Hudson for a short 10-week run, instead. Still, I suppose it's within the realm of possibility that he could do a short run in the West End, à la Sunset Blvd. Or even a few one-nighters... I'm wishing for a cast recording, film, London transfer and for Jake to visit my flat .... Heh. I just found out that my hotel in NY next week is located opposite the Hudson's stage door. (I swear I had no idea.) I should tell them to give me a room in the back, or else I might spend my whole trip stalking gazing out the window.

Front Row on Friday hinted at a London tranfer. Fingers crossed. But when did Radio 4 engage in gossip ?!

Perhaps it's just wishful thinking (and I stress this us purely speculative and only my opinion) but I reckon it might as well.
Jake was on The One Show the other night to promote his new film and they played a snippet of that clip and whilst they glossed over it -it wasn't the reason he was there- they discussed that he could sing.
Fingers crossed!

I heard the team visited a few ATG theatres in London in the week the show had off earlier this month.

Upon hearing this and the possibility, I had to get my ventilator out as I couldn't breathe; I'm not even an asthmatic!

I meaaaan visits like that have happened before for shows that never transferred but you never know! Or it could've been unrelated entirely, who knows. But it's a glimmer of hope that I'll cling to!

If this happens then I need to start chanting for the John Doyle Pacific Overtures to come over (chocolate factory?) and then I have no regrets of not going to NY this year
(Fingers crossed)

Everybody involved wants this to transfer, but obviously there's numerous factors at play so it's a bit of a "watch this space"

Something for a certain off-West End chocolate factory perhaps?

Something for a certain off-West End chocolate factory perhaps? Well the last revival started there so.....

I would doubt with this cast they would go to the Chocolate Factory. They would most likely do a limited three month run in a medium size theatre in the West End.

Correct
And this production is way too large for the MCF

Interesting. After weeks of stating "there are no plans for a recording", it now sounds like they may be trying to put it together after all.
Fingers crossed!

Correct And this production is way too large for the MCF I don't know the size or scale of this production however that is somewhat ironic given that the revival with Daniel Evan and (the then) Anna Jane Casey started there

Brilliant! And it's been professional filmed as well. It was filmed for the Lincoln Center Theater Archive; not for broadcast, unfortunately. Still, I'm ecstatic that it will be recorded. Plus, it's good that the production recouped its entire investment. Might that encourage the producers to mount it elsewhere?

I know (sigh) but in my humble opinion, any show that is recorded is a bonus. If not for historical reasons, but to capture the performances, costumes, set and lighting designs, etc. And who knows, one day, hopefully, there may be a change of heart and it (maybe) released.

I wonder, have any shows recorded for the Lincoln Center archive gone out of copyright yet? Could be interesting to see what happens with the recordings when there are no longer any financial or legal implications involved in spreading them far and wide, though I expect I'll be long dead by then.

Most of the recordings start from 1970 (first Tony awards on record from that year) and I think there's 1 or 2 from the early 1950s with the possibility of a couple of bits and pieces from around then but not full shows. (worryingly I know enough about this archive I just knew that) So most of the copywright has a couple more decades at least on them?
BUT I'm also not well versed in my NY State law to know implications of the archive 'ownership' of the recorded material along with the actual production ownership of them. Who knows. I'm glad they recorded them, and the staff there are lovely but it's an administrative headache in terms of access.

This finishes its run tomorrow, would have thought if it was going to come to WE it would be sooner rather than later.

Apparently CD recording is being released in the US at the end of this month.
