Do you have to enter the auditorium at your allocated admission time for this? I've been allocated an entry slot five minutes before the start of the show but am usually in my seat well before then!

I haven't heard of a single person actually being turned away by turning up at the wrong time at any venue, so you're probably good!

I’ve been 3 times so far to this most recently last night I’ve never had problems getting in between 6.45 -7.20 .... if anything I think they would like people in earlier. As there is only one make shift bar at moment in the library theatre which is now part of rep .... as the whole foyer restaurant bars are closed due to extensive building work ... I think you would be fine anytime

This was so worth the trip to Birmingham today to watch this this. Basically, I loved it. 2hrs and 20 minutes of fun and music sung by a fantastic cast. Being sat front row really gives you the full immersive concert experience. A lot of us commented that we hadn’t realised how close we would be (you can touch the stage from your seat you are that close) but what an experience it was and I’d definitely recommend sitting here for this show as there are no obstructions and plenty of leg room even with my coat and bag in front.
Director Luke Shephard really has put together a great cast who look and sound great here. It’s a really slick show and with a book by Joe DiPietro that makes sense and gives you characters that as an audience member you actually you root for. Every cast member gets a chance to shine.
Watching the show, it’s a amazing how many hits Tom Jones has had over his great career and they are well used here and played by a band of 9 they sounded great this afternoon. I was even surprised that they managed to use “Thunderball” in a really clever way. Though it’s Lemuel Knight’s “Delilah” that is the song of the show for me.
A really nice and deep set with some video screen are used well here and a few pyrotechnics alongside a great lighting design make for a winner of a show.
5⭐️

Great review but you would likely have been ejected and arrested if you had torched the stage 😉

At least you weren’t tempted to steal part of the set !! like the guy next to me the other night stole the flower Mary picks out at the start .... asked by staff to give it back ... refused. Verbally abused me and my party for alerting staff ... then stood swearing and abusing the manager and staff end of night still refusing to return it had staff in tears by he and his parties tired of abuse we had to hide and be helped out by security just in case they started on us again ... whole night ruined for us sadly was on edge all second half .... I mean who thinks it’s ok to take something off a stage set ?

What should of been a great night out for yourself and your party as well as the great FOH staff at the REP turned sour in such a horrible way. I will never understand why people think that it’s ok to basically commit what was theft and then to go on and verbally abuse people when they get found out. They really are the worst kind of people and hopefully won’t be seen at a theatre again. On a positive note, I can see why you’ve gone back to watch the show. It is just so much fun isn’t it? Having looked at the performance schedule, I’m definitely making a return trip before the end of the run, but maybe a few rows back so I maybe get a better appreciation if the lighting and video stuff. I would definitely like to see this tour prior to any WE run. I think people would really enjoy it.

Thanks David such a shock and a shame I felt sorry for the amazing staff having to witness such abuse targeted at them .... they said at the time of you give it back all will be fine and forgotten ... it wasn’t even like they were kids. They were well in their 40s ? On a happier note so glad you enjoyed and seems everyone so far has had a great time such a good show .... I’m going again before the end of the run Not fromRow A again mind lol. Previously sat row H and I which is perfect to see all the projections etc

drowseychap , thanks for the advice about seating. I’ll have a look at rows H and I for my revisit. From the people I was speaking to yesterday and conversations others were having, all were giving positive feedback which is a great sign. There was ALOT of positive feedback for Dominic Anderson during “You can leave your hat on” especially from the ladies! I did get lost in the city centre with all the building work going on. Though a nice couple pointed me in the right direction. At least my revisit will hopefully be easier.

Saw the show tonight. I now totally get the hype this has built up, it was fantastic! A brilliant show, vibrant design and incredible choreography. This cast simply MUST make a cast recording! Such incredible vocals from everyone. Absolutely deserves a West End transfer or tour.

Saw this today. What a fun, uplifting and joyful show. Not a weak link in the cast and they gave it their all despite it being a third full house in a wet Halloween afternoon. The audience made up for it in enthusiasm though. Massive response throughout and at the d and only one slightly annoying audience “situation” which I shall recount in the bad behaviour thread 😑.
it’s five big ones 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃

I was in today. I felt for the cast, given it was so quiet. But I loved it so much. And you are right. Not one weak cast member. All had such strong voices and could act. I’ll go over to the bad behaviour thread. I missed that!!!

Popped along again for Sunday matinee about 3/4 full many older people today I was thinking it may be a more sedate audience how wrong was I .... had to smile when the 80yr old gran with her family got told to stop rocking out in her seat by her daughter as the whole row of seats was rocking A full standing ovation and a receptive and well behaved audience this show is really tight .now .. all the actors are adding little extra bits in and really excel excellent band and sound overall ... other shows could learn a lot from this show Only 1 week left now 😔..... then 🤔.... we will see 🎶🎭❤️

Made a return visit this afternoon and for me this watch was even better than the first. With a fantastic audience providing a great atmospher, with lots of us dancing away in our seats and joining in during “Delilah” “. In my opinion this is still a 5⭐️ show. Having sat front row for the concert experience, sitting in Row J for todays performance, it allowed me to get a better appreciation of the show’s more technical aspects in the lighting and video design and certainly they are impressive.
The cast were just as great today both in the acting and singing and got another standing ovation at the end. This show really has hit on a winning formula for a jukebox musical. Hopefully there will be news soon about a UK tour or a WE transfer soon.

Also just seen the matinee, from row G (perfect view), and my only visit but well worth the trip - and the wait. Also really refreshing to go somewhere other than London for once, even if to another city & via London.

Still some good availability for tomorrow's final performance in the rear 5 rows, £34.50 and £26.50. Has anyone sat this far back, if so how's the view and legroom?

Leg room anywhere in the Rep is good as seats are stadium style like many cinemas are now .... from the back few rows you will still get pretty good view and get the full effects of projections and lighting 👍 I’m in that section for the last show

Honestly if anyone has the chance to catch the last show this afternoon I would say go ! It is just an outstanding show plus you can see this has been put together with real care and love for musical theatre! If I had the money I would invest in this kick out Cinderella and put this in the New London where it would have a very healthy run !! So def go ! We had a blast and congratulations to all the cast and crew you have a HIT

I haven't read the novel so don't know how truthful to it the script is (certain parts of the adaptation did seem likely to have been pretty free) but one of the things I really liked was how many good roles there were for the supporting cast and how many sub-plots relating to them. Definitely not just a couple of leading roles and I enjoyed some of the other performances almost more than those of Mary and Tom.

Unfortunately I can't make it now but I hope those attending today have a great time. Hopefully it'll have a further life on tour or in London and I'll catch it then.
