Apologies if there's already a thread somewhere for this but I couldn't find one. So what gigs have people been to recently? Also, out of curiosity what would you class as the greatest gig you've ever been to (appreciating that 'great' has many different variations).
For example I count the greatest live performance I've ever seen as Jeff Beck at Chelsea last year. Only show that actually brought tears to my eyes which musicianship that had my jaw on the floor.
More recently, yesterday in fact, I finally visited the iconic Ronnie Scott's to see Tal Wilkenfeld, an astonishingly talented multi instrumentalist (she used to be Jeff Beck's bassist), kind of a jazz funk Joni Mitchell vibe.

My last music gig was probably in the late 70s 😁
And that was also about the time I last went to Ronnie Scott's to see Buddy Rich the drummer. Iconic venue but in those days it was like inhaling lung cancer as everyone was smoking (apart from me) and no ventilation.

I'm 25 so very much a case of trying to see as many legends as I can ASAP! I was lucky enough to see Ginger Baker twice in the last few years. Bitter man but once he got behind the kit you couldn't take your eyes off him, the sounds and rhythms he could make on the drums! |

I saw Shakespeare's Sister at The Palladium about two weeks ago. they were friggin' awesome!
I remember in my twenties driving into town on a Saturday night in Sydney, windows down listening to Stay With Me and here there were in front of me singing live. It was at (somewhat) surreal moment.

The last gig I went to was last month in Gateshead to see Charles Esten from the TV series Nashville which was a great night out. My favourite gig ever has to be Savage Garden at Newcastle Arena in November 2000. The atmosphere was absolutely electric. Sadly it was the only time I saw them live but it was one I will always remember.

It's not recent but last year, I saw the Trump-loving, country queen; Shania Twain. She was incredible. Lipsynced the entire thing, but I didnt care. I've listened to her music since I was a child so just to see her in the flesh was something I will never forget.

The last music gig I went to was The Overtones in Gateshead, at The Sage. Their first tour since band member Timmy sadly passed away. The first time I’d seen them live, it was emotional but a celebration too, and they are brilliant singers and performers. Best concert ever would either have to be Savage Garden or their lead singer Darren Hayes when he went solo.

Last one I went to was Paddy Considine and Riding The Low at Oslo in Hackney on Halloween, over the next couple of weeks I’m seeing Iggy Pop, The Twilight Sad, Nitzer Ebb and Primal Scream at various places around London: I tend to veer between going to concerts and going to the theatre but unfortunately there’s been nothing of interest to me showing at any theatre recently (and its looking like it will stay that way well into 2020)

I think my last actual gig was an in-store signing & session by Ride, but before that it was Suede & before that The Hunna. As I said in another thread I’m taking my son to McFly at the O2 on Weds which I’m really looking forward to.
Fave gigs ever were Dr. John at Ronnie Scotts (especially when Eric Clapton casually strolled on stage to do a number with him), The Cure at Wembley Arena a few years ago and Madonna’s Blond Ambition tour back in the day. Nothing on that sort of stadium scale, theatrical show had been seen before in the UK and I still think it is the pop show to live up to.

Best would be one of the times I've seen Springsteen. Nobody comes close for me.
This summer I went to Muse (HATED them - but liked Tom Morello in support) and Prophets of Rage (good, but I was a bit out of place and got stomped on by scary blokes), and Little Steven & the Disciples of Soul (fabulous).
I really want to go and see The Lucky Chops in Manchester next Thursday, but I'm an hour and half away and have to work that day and the next day, so I really don't think I can. I saw them last summer and loved them.
I'm very tempted to book tickets to see Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott next spring, and I'm tempted to see Nick Cave too.

The last gig I went to was Boyzone's farewell tour at the start of the year (it was excellent, have loved them since I was very young). Not sure I have one that I could pick as the greatest I've been to but Josh Groban and The Killers spring to mind as 2 of the best. I'd been a fan of Josh Groban for years and finally managed to see him in Manchester, his voice does not disappoint. The Killers have got such well known anthem songs and Brandon Flowers has such a stage presence.

Theatre has replaced most of my gig going. I found myself holding to my youth and booking standing and then always wishing I’d booked seats and being a bit grumbly. I think the last gig I went to was Andrew Bird at the Barbican, just booked to see Nick Cave next year. I do have Ride at the Barbican in a couple of weeks, which I am stupidly excited about #originalgazer

I'd been a fan of Josh Groban for years and finally managed to see him in Manchester, his voice does not disappoint. My last two were Boyzone- we went at the beginning of the year up at Wembley, and then managed to get really good seats at the last week at the Palladium which was v last minute and probably the best Boyzone gig I’d been to- and we’d gone to pretty much every tour since the beginning. |

Ahh, I've seen every tour but one (the first "reformed" one all 5 of them did, in about 2008 - totally regret missing it!). I bet it was an amazing atmosphere at the Palladium and what a lovely venue to see them at. I loved this farewell tour, they have always put on a great show. |
