Wouldn't this show be a great opportunity for Sir Andrew to resurrect "There's Me" which was cut from "Starlight Express" & was one of my favourite songs. It could be given to Buttons. O.O I live in hope that someday ALW will realize how stupid all that tinkering with Starlight was and mount the original version with "Only He", "Belle, the Sleeping Car" and indeed "There's Me" again. But that is for a whole different conversation haha!

Agreed - There's Me was a lovely melody and would also love to see it pop up in Cinderella!

Interesting (to me lol ;-)) if slightly off topic little fact - the Belle melody DID survive in the show for 30+ odd years as the Rusty/Dustin post Starlight Sequence melody. But sadly this was changed in the 'new' Bochum 30th anniversary production and the melody was finally lost from the show.

I noticed a few people mentioned the Cinderella workshops at The Other Palace - but didn't realize that they were for only industry people. I thought ALW had some of the public coming to them, recognizing how helpful these workshops were with "School of Rock"? Interestingly, "Unmasked" opens not far from me (I live in New Jersey and the Paper Mill Playhouse is still promoting this as a "World Premiere" even though some of you have already seen it at The Other Palace... then again, I suppose those were workshops as well)
Anyway - hoping to get to see Unmasked and will be curious to see if anything from Cinderella is shared in this - or if the promise of 'new songs' which was heralded when this was coming last year actually happens

I've heard from a very reliable source that it is indeed going to be CHF who plays the lead in this one. Not sure when it will be announced to the world, but by the sound of it there's hardly ever been any doubt about it.

I wonder if Tyrone and Ruthie will be in the West End production. The workshop was star studded. ALW can afford as many stars as he wants but the question is, will they be available?
When do tickets go on sale for this one?

There'll be news about this today according to Baz. Hoping it’s a cast announcement. So think it’s Carrie as Cinderella.

There'll be news about this today according to Baz. To be honest I think the biggest thing in that thread is Bazs sulky response regarding Cinderella and the national theatre bot being worth his interest. The man has delusions of grandeur I think.

No surprises there! I then she’s a great choice. And she gets to create a leading role in a new ALW musical, that's definitely something not to scoff at!

I see they still need to fix the ballsack in the title "Cinderella, you shall go to the balls."

Previews from 28 August, opening night 23 September. Tickets on sale 20 March, though no indication if that's priority access or general sale. Another LW Theatres virtual queue to look forward to no doubt, either way.

I know it is only a brief snippet of music - but I hated it. It is ALW at his pedestrian worst.

ALW isnt the pull he once was and Carrie has a niche group of fans but it's not at the level of Frozen

Not in love with the snippet but hopefully it sounds better with full orchestrations. I like Carrie and think she will do a good job.

It really doesnt sound all that revolutionary. And if they are setting it in a traditional fairytale land then the artwork makes even less sense

Transforming yourself for somebody else? Are we still talking about Cinderella or have they accidentally confused it with The Little Mermaid? Cinderella wanted to go to the ball, so she got a pretty dress and shoes. That's not such a leap, is it? Nobody wants to turn up at a ball in rags. After the ball, she was very happy to be in rags again and the prince didn't care either, as far as I'm familiar with the story...

yeah I thought that. Plus I dont know why changing yourself seems to be always painted as a negative thing these days. Changing yourself can often be good.

Grease tackled the issue of changing yourself to please a man decades ago.
Well. Sort of.
But still there isn't anything that new in what they are planning
