I actually like this casting I think she'll be fabulous.

Maybe now with all these actual a lister casting (not matter what I think about Amanda) one of the one direction boys thought I’d rather play link then Joseph in this revival! Certainly a more meatier role! And for longer (more money)
Looking forward to what other casting will come out!
No matter what the press says this will pack out the coliseum night after night!

Honestly, I quite like Amanda Holden. And it’s not like she’s playing a huge role anyway, so those that don’t like her won’t have to put up with her for too long.
Her & Michael Ball will fill up seats, which hopefully means we can get some more West End names into the other main roles now! *fingerscrossed*

They could do a rotation with Corny Collins, much like they just did with Big Daddy in Sweet Charity.
My first nominee...Rylan Clark-Neal (seriously though)!
Any of the Rip It Up boys could slot in nicely.

Holden made Shrek even more of an unbearable shambles than it should have been...how is that even possible?...and then has the audacity to think she is qualified to judge on BGT...famous for being Mrs Les Dennis...hopeless and desperately vapid casting....

I'm looking forward to The Wild Party starring Daniel Day Lewis and Amanda Holden. Putting the pieces together now from Being Alive ’s clues - HAIRSPRAY starring Daniel Day-Lewis as Edna and Amanda Holden as Velma? In a horrifying turn of events - CALLUM WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING BUT DANIEL DAY LEWIS

I thought she was terrific in Thoroughly Modern Millie. Saw the production four times and she just got better and better.

I guess if they were gonna stunt cast somewhere (which was inevitable) then Velma is a good place to do it. Indifferent to Holden - LOVED her in Cutting It (many years ago) but less partial to her in musicals. Still, sure she will be fine in this - she only gets one song and it's hardly one with a difficult sing or that the show lives/dies by.
Really hoping for some decent MT casting for Tracy and Link.

So now that Sandra Marvin is on her way out of Emerdale, can we hope that she’s coming back as Motormouth?
Really is the best person I’ve seen do it - and she’s a bit more age appropriate now than she has been previously.

I thought last night when having a re listen to the recording that Marisha wouldn't make a bad Maybelle at all! So glad she got the role!! Cannot wait to see this next summer!

If the show wanted to star cast I wouldn’t be mad with Joel Dommett as Corny Collins.

Just got dates - it’s both musical slots - 23rd april to 30th August. And the reason it’ll make cash, is because Michael Ball is returning as Edna ... his fans will pay FORTUNES I swore after seeing him do it originally that I would never see it again because it would never live up to his performance. I guess that doesn’t matter now that it’s him again! I wonder if that’s why the UK tour stealthily announced today? Its running until 23rd August - that's the extension date. So pleased - i unashamedly love Hairspray, and Michael's Balls was wonderful as Edna. Now if Tracie Bennett and Sandra Marvin can reprise Velma and Motormouth that'd be dreamy thanks Extension dates are on sale (only noticed when I poked about for Pirate Queen and nearly died at the cost of those)! From the website it seems Saturday 29 August is the last performance (it's a Bank Holiday weekend too).

I think Hairspray is one of those shows were you have to stick to having actors of certain races play certain roles, Omid Djalili is a fine actor and a great comedian but the central theme of segregation in the show may not work having a person of colour play a white role and vice versa.
