I saw in a huge theatre in Cleveland, Ohio. Really enjoyed the show but it suffered being in a large auditorium. The show was just not big enough to work at that level.

Our local theatre (well, here we do it theater) is beautiful. But 3100 seats so we will probably have the same issue. It's because of this board (found it while researching upcoming July vacation in London) that I signed up for my first season subscription just last week. Here is the link it: www.ppacri.org/about.

Watched Dumb and Dumber last night and they r from RI! I don't think we will ever live that one down. From Providence too. We are a proud little state. My favorite RI historical fact is that when RI was founded in 1636 (late by your standards) it was based, not only on freedom of religion but also freedom FROM religion.

Would absolutely love to see Jenna in this, when the material she is working with is right she can knock every single performance right out of the park (look at me with sporting terminology! I feel so masc right now!)

Oh I do hope so. I always loved it. Can Pat Sharp sing when he doesn't have Mick with him though? I did a google search and a theatre board search and could not find it !

"Fun Home will receive its London premiere from 27 June to 1 September 2018, with previews from 18 June."
Hate that design.

Can a mod combine this thread with this one: theatreboard.co.uk/thread/2748/fun-home-young-vic?page=5I hate this 'will Fun Home come to...' title, when we have one specifically for Fun Home at the Young Vic. Anyway, super exciting but that artwork is weird for this show. I get what they're going with with the wallpaper background but that font, eek. Booking opens Friday 21st at 10AM.

I've never seen anything at the Young Vic before but am desperate to see this. Do shows there tend to sell out quickly? Will be travelling when the public sale goes live and won't be able to book until 24 hours later. Am considering getting the £35 direct debit membership to get access to tickets today

When does public booking go on sale? I can't find the date.

Public booking is Friday 21st at 10am. There can sometimes be absolute frenzies on the website, but without a super famous name, it should be easy enough to get tickets even a day or two later. For comparison, I was able to exchange a pre-bought Yerma ticket after the run had started (but before reviews came out), and that was with a known cast member involved. I'm sure you'll be fine, jamb0r . It is next summer, after all!

Am considering getting the £35 direct debit membership I did that this morning so I could book several tickets for various cheaper previews or lucky dip tickets.

If you want to book to make sure you're in but still like to know your seat in advance, then keep checking the website as the opening date approaches, and once they've got a seating plan up, drop them a quick email to ask what you've been assigned. They get back to you very quickly, and although I've never had to ask them to, I wouldn't be surprised if they had a policy for allowing them to move your assigned seat once everything's set in stone.

drop them a quick email to ask what you've been assigned Thanks for the tip - for The Jungle it sounds like they'll have something a bit like Life of Galileo with seating amongst the performers so I asked if we could be put in that bit if possible.

Polite request to fellow members, please: 8 pages and nowhere does anyone explain what this is about or include a quotation from a blurb. I know I can look it up but if I'm starting a thread, I do try to provide some basic background info, so it would be really helpful if others could do the same. The assumption seems to be that everyone already knows and it clearly has a following but I have never heard of it.

Showgirl - Musical with songs by the eclectic songwriter Jeanine Tesori (Caroline or Change, Shrek, Violet - I did say eclectic!). This is at the more complex end regarding songs and structure (which ranges around from era to era throughout). Based on an autobiographical book by Alison Bechdel (as in the Bechdel test). Themes of parents and children, LGBT issues and how these have changed over time. A lot in there about loss as well. The staging of the Broadway production was in the round (see below), leading to suggestions that the Young Vic will be doing the same (it's also been done 'end on'). Personally, when I listened to the CD and followed the story along with it, I was really impressed. I found it to be very moving.

Basically about Alison Bechdel's life and her discovering her sexuality at the same time as she discovers the sexuality of her father. The title comes from funeral home, one of which the family owned. Won the 2015 Tony for Best Musical and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Definitely comedic moments but overall it's a weepy.
