I saw this afternoon. I had very low expectations so that might be why I loved it lol! So Jenna Russells acting is very very good and it compensates for not having Kelli's Voice. I was in "restricted" seats which weren't restricted, it was just a side view. E 46. The projections were beautifully done and I dont get how the wooden panels worked because they slid all over the place. Must be very complicated for the crew. It does feel like it wants to be in a bigger theatre because of the huge sets! I Didnt feel like I was in an off-west end venue. Not sure if it will transfer but I really hope it will. I couldn't really tell it was directed by Trevor Nunn, I saw fiddler earlier this week and it is so different. (obviously they're really different pieces) but direction wise I thought we'd be having blocks as beds and benches aha! The story was very beautiful and touching, Jenna is just such a talent wow!

Echoing theatre241 - was also there this afternoon and also really liked it. I thought Jenna was wonderful, and giving the performance of her career- yes, she doesn’t have Kelli’s voice but she navigated the score well and acted it beautifully, so nuanced and emotional. I did think Edward was terrible in almost all of Act 1, and then he came back after the interval like a different person - which proves he CAN do it, and just sort of, chose not to for act 1. Really liked the set, thought the double revolve worked really well, spinning you in and out of scenes. Only a couple of crashes - I thought it worked really well. Beautiful orchestra (half strings is just a delight). I do completely get why this isn’t people’s cup of tea though - I just happened to like the way they did things.

Oh, and also- D21 is a steal at £25. Exactly in the middle, and you just have to lean round a pillar for two moments of 30 seconds each to see Francesca on the other phone. Would say 23 and 24 less so - they would be restricted, but 21 and 22 are barely

Must be really complicated! I think the revolves give it a cinematic touch as well. The whole piece is very filmic. (Probably because it was a film) And it is very immersive with the projections going round into the audience

Jenna has just tweeted that she's ill and I'm coming down from Scotland to see this on Tuesday. Yikes! Wishing her a speedy recovery.....however I am organising a Plan B incase she's off.

Normally I’m happy to see an understudy (I’m see Rachel’s understudy on Wed night in Come From Away and I’m perfectly happy to do so) but I’m a huge Jenna fan and booked this show to see her. I can only get to London once a year and always have a long list of things I want to see in a short space of time. I bumped 4 shows off the list for Bridges so now i’d rather see one of those. I’m sure the understudy is fantastic but I just need to chose wisely to get the best out of my trip. 😊

Well I guess they don’t have understudies after all cause I have just got an email saying tonight’s performance is cancelled. I’m on a train from Scotland as we speak coming down to see it and now I guess I’m putting my back up plan into place. Sooooo Evita or JCS??? Hmmm. Already booked to see Come From Away, Waitress, and Hamilton. Any other suggestions of something I should be checking out are welcome. 😊

I have plumped for JCS (thanks). Managed to snag the last seat up in the Upper Circle, I know it’s restricted view but I’m poor. Haha. Excited to see after reading all the posts about it on here.

Seating tips please. Better off going for high numbered or low numbered restricted view seats? Rows D/E. Thanks! (unfortunately D21/22 unavailable)

(unfortunately D21/22 unavailable) I would go for there ones inside if you know what I mean. So not the very outside bits. I sat in the restricted Row C seat and theres a pillar that dosent affect your view. Go for the ones inside the "L"

I'm hoping to go to the Saturday matinee this weekend but at the moment all of the seats are in pairs and it won't let me book just one seat. Hoping one will free up tomorrow. Might have to give in and ring them to sort it, but we'll see!

Have you tried the two-browsers trick? It worked for me.
(Go a few pages back in this thread for a more detailed explanation.)

Thanks, yeah I've tried that, no luck. It doesn't let you add one seat to your basket so a second browser doesn't recognise one as now unavailable, you just get an error message saying you can't leave a single seat. Tried selecting two and then removing one but that's not an option. I'll just wait and see if Fate stays on my side or not... 🤞

If you try ‘Best seat available’ instead of selecting your own, that should split a pair when there are only pairs available. Of course it doesn’t always offer the seat of your choice, but sometimes you do get the one you’d been trying to pick in the first place. (Sorry, messed up the quoting there!)

Then they've changed their setup since the day tickets went on sale to non-members. Sorry!

I added four seats into my basket on my phone, and then used best available on my laptop to get the seat I wanted. Went for the higher numbers. Thanks !

Just to give a warning: I had a C31 seat and it was THE WORST. Not because of the actual restriction - the column blocked maybe just 2 square metres of stage. But these were the very couple of metres the director decided to stage 3 number on! Like, solo number. Nothing on stage. And the hero stand RIGHT THERE for the whole number. WHY?! Duet number. Again right there. The saddest scene when they go for ice-cream and Francesca sees Robert. Again he stands right there where I and people behind me couldn't see him at all!
I really hated the director for that. This was not because of the set, but just because he decided to make my restricted seat totally worthless. And I didn't like the show because of that.

Well I went in with quite low expectations today, and knowing very little of the show (I gave the soundtrack its first listen yesterday), and I'm pleasantly surprised. Maybe it's that the leads have settled in now, but I thought they were both fine (and previously I've found Jenna quite underwhelming). Edward did bungle the top note in It All Fades Away, but otherwise he did alright. Ramin would've been a much better casting choice (that song is on his recent album), and Jenna isn't Kelli O'Hara, but we can't win them all. As others have said, Shanay Holmes is the vocal standout, 'Another Life' is flawless.
It's a bit too long, and starts to feel it, but it's worth a watch. Especially from E46, sold as Restricted View but as far as I could tell you only missed a bit of background scenery as projections, at no point were the performers obscured. Plus you're right by the door so you can get to KFC quicker than everyone else. A bargain for £25.

So is ok or should I cough up the extra for a full priced ticket. Anyone?

Up to you but I thought it was fine and didn’t feel I missed anything.
