Same! Yet another "musical" with a desperately mediocre score (IMHO). I guess in that respect at least, it is on trend.Howling, haha. Ha. I try.....

I love the film and I've wanted to see the musical. I just hope they go somewhere smart than the Dominion.

Just saw the website advertised on the big digital screens at Holland Park Roundabout - if the announcement is coming on Friday then I suppose this must be Baz's Thursday eve scoop this week.

I just had they go somewhere smart than the Dominion. The Dominion has White Christmas booked from November; this announcement says the show will be coming in 'Autumn' so even if we push that back to, say, July, that's only a 4 month run. Now with that barn of a theatre that may well be all they are hoping to sell, or maybe launch another tour afterwards, but might they instead be going for a theatre that they can have over the xmas season? Surely with the film connection they'd be hoping to bring in a lot of business over the holiday period? Perhaps it's naive of me to think that it could compete with pantos or the famous West End shows purely on the back of the film and (maybe) a C-list pop star.

It could actually do The Savoy after 9 to 5 if the extension doesn't go through. I think a medium-sized venue would be the smart way to move forward.

The Piccadilly also has nothing scheduled after The Lehman Trilogy (ending 3rd August) and I think has a slightly larger stage than the Savoy. If I remember correctly this played reasonably large stages on its tour so Piccadilly is maybe also a possibility?

If I remember correctly this played reasonably large stages on its tour so Piccadilly is maybe also a possibility? I do know the Piccadilly wsd the venue they wanted immediately following the tour but it couldn't happen. So if that is available, I imagine that is the venue for it and I could see it going in there.

Both of which have large stages. The set was quite large and hi tech with two revolves & a moving semi circular LED screen so the Piccadilly is a good shout.

If I remember correctly, this struggled quite a bit in terms of sales when it was in Dublin. I quite enjoyed it and the cast recording is pretty good.

I imagine it will be a scaled down production and be a filler limited run in the West End. I don't know if it will be open-ended.

This is the trailer for the Dublin run a few years ago for anyone unfamiliar with Big. I forgot that this had Jay McGuiness, Diana Vickers & Gary Wilmot in it.

It's the Dominion from September up until White Christmas if it all goes to plan.

Well I did say earlier it was bad...... You did, sean, you did. But the reality... It looks so cheap and sucked dry of creativity. A bit like White Christmas there a few years back!

I do love Gary Wilmot as an entertainer which would be my only draw to this...but that isn't enough...looks dreadful and everything a musical shouldn't be.

It's the Dominion from September up until White Christmas if it all goes to plan. I'm surprised they're doing it in such a big theatre, that's a really short run! Though I suppose White Christmas is going there too for a short run so that's not surprising.

I'm actually looking forward to it. I imagine it will be either downsized or have ridiculous prices to make up for a limited run like that.

The great thing too is that there is three roles large enough that you could cast names in them to make the limited run worthwhile. So I imagine we will see Jay and the two people playing the boss and the female lead be announced tonight.
Why do I get Kimberley Walsh vibes with this one?

The mother is also a role that can be cast with a star in the role. Denise Van Outen was due to play the role in Plymouth & Dublin but pulled out last minute & Paul the corporate manager was played by Irwin Sparkes from the band the Hoosiers. So there is 5 roles that can be star cast if they want to.
