Ah yeah I think The Adelphi would be a good fit for Mean Girl although I’d have the same concerns about its being sustainable in such a large theatre as with Waitress! But I’m sure it will do well, at least for the first year, as it’s a known quantity.
I saw this on Broadway and really enjoyed it without thinking it was anything special. Personally much preferred it to Frozen and Pretty Woman if that means anything. West End is going import crazy right now. Excited to see who they pick for Regina!

I am a MAJOR fan of the film, I could recite the script pretty much and I thought this was fun on Broadway, but frankly I'd rather just watch the film. None of songs were even remotely memorable and there is nothing new really added to it. A lot of the time an iconic line from the film is turned into a whole 3-4 minute song, which in the end turned quite frustrating as you lose the joke the song is based on and it just drags the whole thing out. In the end I just wanted it all to be over. The staging and choreography was fun, but I don't know that I need to see it again. If you love the film check it out as a curio if can get a cheap ticket. If you've never seen the film save your money and watch it on Netflix instead of paying exorbitant theatre prices to see this x Yeah I watched part of a bootleg (sorry!) and didn't enjoy it. The songs just seemed uninspired to me and the lyrics seemed lazy. I'll be the first to admit I'm not a big fan of modern pop musicals though so I went in knowing it wouldn't be my favourite but I'm glad it's finally arriving for those who love it. It's not bad in any way, it's just beige, safe and too similar to the film to warrant its existence.

It's a musical. It's a very left field choice to come into the West End that I still don't entirely understand - won't reveal what it is as I've been specifically asked not to (sorry!) The into the woods revival that was mentioned here recently?

I have to agree the bootleg is awful. I saw it last week with the new cast and it's simply a great night out. The music is themed for the characters similar but not the same what ALW had done for decades. So songs for Regina George all sound the same as that's her "theme". The cast was terrific and I would give away some of the casting choices/roles as they are truly inspired. I wish every day was halloween too, so of course I'm a fan of Mean Girls.

Well can we at least get a ballpark? Is it a Brodway Transfer? A new Musical? A tour coming in? Something from the regions? Something from the fringes? A new revival?

Broadway transfer from the last 10 years. The news should be out soon though (cause they'll need to start selling tickets!)

I've always wanted Something Rotten! to come over but from the description I'm guessing it's something more random and left field.

Can you please just answer this...is it a musical or a play? It's confirmed above to be a musical. Another vote for Something Rotten here please. Or I'd be happy with Anastasia too. Can't think of many other recent Broadway transfers it could be.

War Paint or Bandstand?
Both would be a good fit for the Savoy crowd and a bit unexpected.
Neither are very good either which would also fit his description lol

Elena Skye as Janis would be perfect casting, and the more I think about this, the more I want it to happen

This is a show that will 100% come to London, but i'd say unlikely until Autumn 2022 or even later now. I saw it 4 times in New York, including the day before the shutdown - it's a great fun show.

The West End isn't gonna have new original musicals for ages - it'll be film/book adaptations and revivals for a good 2-3 years I'd guess.
Fairly sure we'll get it here (the wheels were certainly in motion pre pandemic). Late 2022 at the earliest.

Agreed this is going to do so well over here and it’s a well known film over here uk audiences are going to love it.

I was thinking late 2022 as well we will have to wait and see how boy in the dress does at the savoy so it can go in there as the savoy will be perfect for this show 😊

I saw twice in New York, and it is an insanely enjoyable show, with a great book by Tina Frey.
Sonia Friedman being a key producer on this it certainly will come over.
I could see the show doing well in the West End, but doing better on their and going out several times, just like Legally Blonde did.
However when theatre does reopen and producers not going to rush to get show in dark theatres initially more concentrating on getting their current shows up and running. However I could see this sliding neatly into the Savoy, if Dirty Dancing doesn’t move there first.

To be honest though the West End is all film/book adaptations and revivals anyway and it's rare to see a completely original musical at the best of times.

Also They could stunt cast the teachers for mean girls and give the celebs limited runs
