Was expecting a horrendous queue for this one but got my favourite seat in the Old Vic by 10 past 12. I don't know much about Scott's non stage career and was led to believe that there'd be a ridiculous demand for this. And also after Seawall was such a smash. Not complaining, I haven’t got round to booking yet.

You’ll all be relieved to know I have now booked. Ended up doing ‘From the Box Office’ because I was only seeing full price tickets on the site linked to before. Am sure it was user error on my part. Like crowblack, TodayTix only offered me seats very far back in the stalls, (Q) and I find it very claustrophobic in that bit of the Old Vic.

Just had a look at tickets for this and was surprised by how much there is left!

Is there an element of fans of Scott's TV work having had enough opportunity to see him 'in the flesh' already so removing the desire/need to see him again? As I said, I know next to nothing about his television work and had to look him up on Wikipedia when he was cast in Hamlet.

Is it just maybe a big expensive theatre (and no matter how much they like to make it clear that there are cheaper tickets available, people are still going to look at the stalls and be put off by a big section of £125 tickets; even if they look around the theatre, they might then conclude that the £12 seats are only going to be 1/10th as good and therefore it's just not worth going at all) and the tickets only went on public sale yesterday?

I hadn't put this into words until now, but my experience with American Clock has made me very wary of the Old Vic. It's silly really because I have seen so much good stuff there (SO MUCH!) but I haven't booked for All My Sons (and won't) until it opens because American Clock was so far from my thing. I wouldn't have booked Present Laughter if Andrew Scott weren't in it. He's my "reading the telephone book" actor. Oddly enough, I hated Tortured too, and now I think about it, I haven't booked anything upcoming at the National either.

Sea Wall was a two-week run, which probably has a lot to do with why tickets went much more quickly on the day booking opened. For THIS, that initial surge of demand was spread across a much greater number of performances.

haven't booked anything upcoming I haven't got much booked in advance either this year. I used to, to save on train tickets with advance fares, but I've had so many disappointments I've decided it's better to wait for reviews and maybe brave the National Express coach again, unless it's a tiny theatre and an actor or writer I love.

True. And also a reprisal of something very well received, I think?

Certainly experience with the Old Vic (eg the dire 17c and the not-wholly-successful Wise Children and The American Clock) has taught me to wait for reviews and offers.
Also, Present Laughter is a play which comes round far too often and though there'll always be people who've never seen it or not too frequently, I've had enough of it and find it a disappointing choice for this venue.
And lastly, Andrew Scott is no draw for me and I don't get the fuss about him; in fact, I'd probably prefer not to see him. (Yes, heresy to some.)

I’ve got a lot booked, unlike you, just none of it here or at the National. I’d definitely be more circumspect if a theatre trip involved the planning and booking of yours. Whereabouts do you live?

Plus, it was actually written for Andrew Scott, and is rarely performed by him, which made it just that little bit more special.

The OV has such wild veering in quality from play to play it's unreal. I also don't think Scott can do anything beyond "slightly unhinged," which he proved in spades in Birdland. If he can give a character tear-filled crazy eyes, by God he will do it.

Liverpool, so quite a trek if it's a disappointing play.

Oh, 2608 in the queue - so I'm not getting a PWC preview ticket for this, then, am I?

I was lucky and got number 292 and was through by about 12:25. Loads of availability left.
Got a £90 premium seat in row K for the final preview for £10 - very happy here!

I'm still 2608, after half an hour of queuing! They updated the Queue It system and your queue number doesn't change anymore. If you look at the white text above the purple line it now says this: Please note: your queue number will remain the same but the pink bar will continue to move.

Well, that makes more sense. Though I’m sure they will still be sold out by the time I get through.

990 in the queue and an hours wait. Managed to get the last unrestricted view stalls seat (L31) left. All else that was left were a few restricted stalls, quite a few restricted circle and a few unrestricted view circle seats. I did not check the upper circle, my last visit to that level put me off ever sitting there again. Mind you, that was in 1970! (Coriolanus with Anthony Hopkins)

Well, I'm honestly staggered. Not only did I manage to get 2 tickets on Friday night, they were Q16 and Q17 in the stalls!
There were a whole bunch of about 8 in that row - I can only assume the result of dropped baskets being released at the very moment I got through. They're gone now.

Even more pleased that I booked this using that ‘From the Box Office’ special offer now. I had a mini heart attack that I had missed out.

Am also confused by this thread today. Did booking for this only open today? After the new season booking the other day/last week? Just panic checked and I did book a very cheap ticket in the stalls a month ago.

Just panic checked and I did book a very cheap ticket in the stalls a month ago. It was the PWC preview tickets that booking opened for today - they put half the house on sale for £10 for the first five previews, a few weeks before the first performance. You can sign up here - www.oldvictheatre.com/your-visit/booking-tickets/pwc - to get notified of when PWC booking opens for each show.

Okay, thanks for that, just for Present Laughter? They seemed to be selling the PWC tickets last week for the new season but clearly not, might explain why I can never find the tickets, I just assumed they were all gone each time!! Live and learn, live and learn.

Yes, they release these tickets separately for each show, later than general booking.

I'm confused and back again with the PwC offer. However, if I've got this right the PwC's for Local Hero go on sale tomorrow #testevent
Mood: furtive.

Local Hero doesn’t open until next June year, so PWC tickets won’t be on sale until a few weeks before that.
Think of them as a month in advance cheap tickets - there will only ever be one production selling PWC tickets at a time because the OV only does one production at a time.
