I saw a fantastic amateur production at a local theatre where they had a white Deloris, she had red hair and I felt like I was seeing what it might have been like if Bette Midler had ended up playing the part (of course the film was originally intended for her, apparently). It was great. But in a professional production they can draw on a much wider talent pool, and considering that the role is now pretty obviously written as black there wouldn't be any excuse really. I'd imagine the backlash would be huge.

Can Siobhan McSweeney (Derry Girls) sing? I instantly thought it was her at the start of the video.

I feel like I got a glance of Keala as well. But might well be wrong. Let’s hope you are. All subtlety Keala might have had in Waitress has left the building and now I just feel she’s a bit screamy

I am guessing that Murder in Provence might get a second season which would mean Kerala being in the South of France this summer

I am 96% positive that I spotted Lizzie Bea in that teaser video so she must be leaving Heathers to come to this!

A teaser video has just been posted on Facebook - Looks very much like Beverley Knight alongside Jenifer Saunders and Clive Rowe. Where on Facebook? I can’t find it.

And when I think about it, she’d be a way better Mary Patrick than Keala, though if they have any balls they’d cast her as Mary Robert.

I'm just impressed at everyone making guesses, I wouldn't have a clue from any of that!

Can’t wait to hear Beverley sing the score.
I do hope the new duet Alan Menken was writing for Whoopi and Jennifer will be in it.
So is Lesley Joseph Mary Lazarus? She was going to be Mother Superior on the Tour with Brenda Edwards wasn’t she?

keekio2 it’s just the week in Manchester before London so I’d guess all the London cast will do that week (except for Beverley because she’s not leaving Drifters Girl until a few days before the London run stars), nice warm up for them before London. alece10 yes Beverley announced she was leaving Drifters Girl in early July about a week ago, I guess in preparation for this announcement!

Bloody hell, the prices! Big swathe of the Stalls, even first preview, at £178.50 and £249.50!

It's a barn of a place and doesn't have any atmosphere. I used to go there in the late 70s, early 80s as all the soul concerts were there. Chic, Earth Wind and Fire, Commodores, Bootsie Collins. Ah those were the days 😀

So chuffed to see Beverley IS doing it! And with that supporting cast I may have to go even though it’s not my favourite musical. Would anyone who’s been to the Apollo be able to tell me what the front blocks of the circle are like for a musical please? I’ve only ever been to concerts there. Thank you!

It's tricky as some people have held on to their more expensive tickets so I guess they can't reduce prices across the board! I moved from rear circle to side stalls when Whoopi dropped out for around £30 and just booked another one as I love this cast! (and means I can sit the other side and see anything I missed!)

I can’t believe you lot guessed half the cast based on a small teaser! I’m surprised you guys haven’t figured out who killed Jon Benet Ramsey with those detective skills! You’re an amazing bunch.
I’m enjoying Keala’s stay in the UK but I feel like the roles she’s taking aren’t quite up to her talents. I really hope she gets a leading role worthy of that insane voice.

Glad to see Lizzie Bea as Mary Robert instead of the 'easy' casting and giving her Mary Patrick (who should be a little older, anyway). Now there's a role that can and should be opened up to more people!

I wasn’t going to bother this time, but you’ve just made me buy a ticket for Manc. Maybe BK will do it, but if not I’d like to see the others. Also my last experience of SA was the Alexandra Burke one 🥺 so maybe my faith can be restored 🙂

Gemma Collins as Sister Mary Robert and Ruth Brown from Dreamgirls as Deloris. Don’t worry, she’s got this…
