I'm sure Maria would have stayed had she not got another job. With all the changing leaving dates and not knowing what was going on, I don't blame her.
Charli coming in makes sense.

I've literally never heard of Charli and Wicked until this conversation so I hope you all get your wishes and she comes to London. 😂

If it’s confirmed that Charli is joining as standby (before cast change) then I can see Carina not returning and leaving at cast change.
It’s all well saying she will get a year of maternity leave but she will have to return at some point and with 2 small children that may be hard, she could have decided she wants to leave permanently.

If she takes her maternity leave soon as allow (before cast change) it could run out and allow her to return for a little while before terminating her contract at the 2020 cast change to go and look after her two small children.

At least the powers that be at Wicked can read these boards for any HR support they may need! 😂🙈

And logic will say they’ll bring someone in temporarily such as Charli without a fuss or fanfare and keep any announcements until cast change.
That’s what they did when Natalie Andreou left early.

She is going to have to go into work via the underground tunnel as people seem to be there 24/7 and will be shouting she is there the second she arrives 😉

Can i get the map co-ordinates for that? Thinking of setting up a microwave/nutella shop and there seems to be a captive market here... #getmeondragonsden

Any possibility that JV is Fearn's replacement? She's leaving early enough to move to London + rehearse at the AV. Or, is it pretty all-around agreed on that Laura/Amy will come in?

So, the new Elphaba of Broadway is announced to be Hannah Corneau who is new to the role which is exciting. I hope there'll be someone who has never played to role after Alice Fearn too.

I saw Hannah Corneau in Hedwig about 4/5 years ago and knocked it’s out of the park. She’ll do good in Wicked and the best part... She is making her Broadway debut!

still no news about the new Elphaba and Glinda for London?

I think Elphaba will be Amy Ross/Webb, and Glinda could be anyone really.

Why are so many people thinking/assuming/guessing it's Amy Ross? She told everyone who asked that she so far had this rule for herself to only do every role once. I personally feel like she should allow herself more than half a year break after the craziness that was the tour, also regarding her health.

I just have a gut feeling.
And she was popular with audiences on tour, which makes me think that the producers will want to keep her, or at least invite her back at some point.

Ever since Nikki, the idea of a touring Elphaba going into the West End makes me nervous.
I can't wait to see what Amy does next, I just don't see it being Wicked.

A role that I would love for her to play is Scaramouche in WWRY. Having listened to Hannah Jane Fox on the cast recording, it just sounds like a role she'd fit so well.

How much longer will we have to wait to hear anything about cast change

It usually gets announced mid to late May, from recent previous experience.

Whilst Amy might have said she wouldn’t want to play the same role twice, I truly hope the opportunity is given to her and she takes it.
Yes it’s not a ‘new’ actress to the role but Amy was brand new to the tour and absolutely smashed it, she’d be new to London and thoroughly deserves to play the role in the West End.

Nikki missed the end of the tour due to illness, there was an article shared previously on the ‘happy performer’ blog that linked to anxiety as a performer and the pressure on actresses to live up to expectations. I believe that was the reason she pulled out rather than a physical vocal injury for example. After she was announced as moving to London as lead, shortly after she missed a long run of dates and Jemma Alexander her Standby closed the tour. I think a similar thing happened with Jackie Hughes on the international tour.

The level of expectation at Wicked is incredibly high. Well, at least it is for some roles. Not so much for others (yes, Fiyero, I mean you...)
Would Amy want to go through all that again and then some in the West End? I am not so sure.
