Due to personal reasons, Alex declined her scheduled show. It's a shame they didn't re-schedule it for her! 🙁 I believe wayyy back when Sabrina Carter had her scheduled Elphaba show she had to come off sick so they arranged for her to do another show at a later date. That would all depend on the reasons why Alex declined the show in the first place!

If I remember correctly Sabrina was scheduled to do a 2-show day & did the matinee but couldn't manage the evening so Ashleigh did that. I saw both shows. Slightly depressing to see it referred to as "wayyy back"!

I’ve just checked the ATG website, and tonight’s show is pretty much half full. Most of this cheap(er) seats have been sold leaving the posh overpriced seats mid-stalls.

The show I'm referring to happened on a Monday night, Sabrina was scheduled to go on but she came off after Popular and was replaced by Ashleigh, who I believe at the time was also ill herself! I remember that period being really bad for Wicked in terms of Elphaba's being ill ... seems to be a trend in London! 🙈

I guess Sabrina must have had more than one scheduled show then, as I'm sure I went because I knew in advance she was due to be on. Yes, I think it was around that time when they were so short of Elphabas that they had Stephanie J. Block on emergency standby when she was over here for concerts.

She may have due to the fact Alexia was off for a length of time leaving just Ashleigh & Sabrina! Sabrina's first Elphaba show was June 2009 as far as I can see and that was on a double show day (she replaced half way through the first act at the Matinee then did the evening show) but I'm sure she also had more shows after this (the scheduled October date where she came off sick, and then the show she got to compensate for that one). Ahhh yes I remember the SJB rumour! I suppose back in those days the show wasn't that old so they couldn't just call a former cast member in to cover like they can do now. They managed to get through in the end and Alexia returned to finish her run.

I'm on a train so don't have access to my theatregoing list to check when I saw Sabrina. Possibly October 2009? (This will now be bugging me till I can check my list on Tuesday.)

Looks about two thirds full for tonight based on the website seating chart. To be fair, there were gaps in the audience for Suzie and Wllemijn's last show too, so its not like its unusual.

Most in that audience will have no idea that's it's cast change and certainly will not care we are getting a new Goat or midwife.

The only twitter action I have seen for this cast change has been toward Joseph Fletcher, as well as cast members on Instagram stories saying tonight is all about him. Can't argue that, hes the only person I'll really miss leaving this time around.

Just got home from the matinee! Really enjoyed myself, the cast were great, spotted a few muck ups in act 1 (there may have been more but I probably haven't seen the show enough to spot them all!) - When Nicholas Corre shouted 'Galinda' during NOMTW he held the note on for a really long time.
- During What Is This Feeling & The Ozdust Ballroom the swings were up on the platforms at the sides in costume singing and attempting to dance as much as they could in the small space. We had the girls on our side.
- In Dancing Through Life Bradley sung 'find the most beautiful guy in the room' and picked up Will Lucas.
- When Glinda's two friends were helping her to get ready Danny Michaels came on with them too.
- At the end of popular whilst the beds where being wheeled off Sophie lay on Glinda's bed flapping her legs open and closed.
There was also a few were I wasn't sure if they were muck ups or if I just hadn't noticed/remembered them from before: - During NOMTW, after the bit with the Witches Mother and the Young Wizard as he went down into the lift he ran his hand down the front of her skirt until he disappeared from view.
- As the mob ran forward at the beginning of NOMTW they shot a load of streamers into the audience.
- Also during NOMTW Bradley picked up Olivia Holding and spun her round.
- James McHugh had his afro out, (last time we were at the show he had his hair in a bun, I don't know if the afro was out especially for the matinee or if that is just how he wears his hair now) .

Oooo thanks itsemily! Loved the swings being in the scene I’m not sure I’ve heard of that one before! I think the things you pointed out at the end are all standard with the exception of Bradley and Olivia.

I think it’s a shame that Sarah didn’t come back to finish her contract, having left 7 days into it and never returning, but I guess she had her reasons.
I was just on Melanie La Barrie’s Instagram live video and it was hilarious! Andy Hockley came into the video, and he ripped his trousers when he sat down! The rest of the video consisted of Mel cackling offscreen and one of the costumes people yelling out their window so that Mel’s video would pick it up. The things that go on backstage at Wicked 😂

I guess she’s been out that long they’d have needed to re-rehearse her and have a put-in so it was always unlikely she’d return to the stage.

Most of the cast and crew would be thinking "who the hell is that?!" and calling security thinking an audience member had gotten onstage!

It definitely seems like Joseph Fletcher is the fan-favourite this session. Gone are the days of Emma and Savannah stans, now it’s the ribbon twirler who gets all the love.

It seems like he’s been with the show for ages, and he finally got his scheduled Wizard show a few weeks ago.

Again in the Oz Dust Ballroom, when Elphaba is dancing and Glinda says 'may I cut in?' one of the boys (don't remember who) shouted 'I wish you would'.

According to twitter, Joseph got entrance applause when he came on for his ribbon twirling solo at the start of One Short Day.

I was also at the matinee yesterday. I noticed the people up at the sides and thought it was odd I'd never noticed that before, I hadn't realised they were the swings! One other thing I noticed was Russell had on a wig and an earring when he came out as Elphaba's dad at the start. Not much else, I kinda hoped there'd be more. They definitely always do the streamers. This was my first time through the doors since my beloved Willemijn left, and so first time with this cast. It's hard to give a fair review when you're firmly in the camp of another but Alice is very talented and deserves her praise. A little too shouty for me but based on recordings I've heard before she could have been a lot worse! Sophie on the other hand, based on what I'd read here I didn't have high expectations but I thought she was great! She was very funny and definitely got the most laughs. And this is something that can't be helped but I did like how she actually towers over Boq so he does look like a munchkin! Last thing to say, Rosa has come on leaps and bounds since last year.

I’ve just had to deal with a rude, hypocritical person who we all know and love in YouTube comments sections of Wicked audios. (Hint: microwave girl)
I am done. Cba. Not dealing with this today. *mic drop*

Gave up on a Hamilton ticket when I’m overnight in London on Wednesday so heading to see the new Wicked cast!
Interested to see a new Fieyro as I loved Bradley in the role, that voice - wow! David has big jodhpurs to fill for me!
And of course fan favourite Kerry Enright who now takes over as Midwife...

I'll definately pop by and see this cast, but it won't be until later in the year or if I can get in for free sooner.

Ok so I’m home and these are my immediate thoughts...
The show is still great (show 27 for me tonight), and for Joe Public it still holds its magic and the cast tell the story well. But for a returning fan there’s just something missing that makes it all fall a bit flat - it could be the weather (boiling in the theatre!) or that it’s only show 3 for the new cast, but when you watch London v the tour it’s like a different show with the energy. I don’t think it’s the new cast excuse as I felt the same seeing the previous London cast compared to tour...
Alice is definitely something to be seen, any audios out there just don’t do her justice, you need to see her live to appreciate the subtleties of her Elphaba. That said, all the big notes were cut very short tonight, the Wizard and I (almost an immediate end when she said “I” and same in NGD. Again it could’ve been the heat but Sophie did the same in NOMTW and the end of Popular, and so too did David in DtL.
I really like Sophie’s Glinda and her voice really is amazing to listen to!
They’ve messed around with the ensemble tracks again, the old Joseph Fletcher track doesn’t twirl the ribbon anymore in OSD and he enters the stage doing back flips!! Glinda’s friend is no longer the old Pfanee/Elphaba U/S track, it’s now the Glinda U/S, although chatting to people on twitter seems that bit changed last year.
Chris Jarman is a great addition to the cast as Dillamond, after the last few years in both London and tour it’s nice to see someone fresh in the role and you can tell there’s a freshness about the portrayal even though it’s a small role.
Rosa was brilliant as Nessa, the right mix of menace and power in WWOTE. I’m really pleased Rosa got the role fulltime, it’s definitely deserved!
And Mel La Barrie - queen of Sass - enough said. Love her!
Brand new midwife and I absolutely love Kerry Enright, 4 years in the cast and nice to see her in a different track (she’s still one of my favourite Morribles!) and I’m glad she’s staying another year.
So to David Witts..... oh dear oh dear. I don’t know how many Fieyros I’ve seen but it’s more than 10 and I just don’t get his casting I’m sorry. He is visibly younger than both Alice and Sophie which has a cougar edge to it, it’s like he’s trying to date the girls in the year above him at uni. In DtL he looked awkward and he clearly doesn’t know what to do with his arms, they just hang there like a t-rex. He was also visibly knackered and out of breath half way through DtL, it’s a good job he gets to stand to the side half way through as he clearly needed a rest! In ALAYM Alice massively overpowers him and it wasn’t a mic issue he just couldn’t match her, he also sang “it’s up that I fell” down the octave which I’ve never heard a Fieyro do before... again it could be the heat, it could be that he’s been in rehearsal for the last month but I just didn’t click with him at all. Perhaps I’m overly harsh as a massive Bradley fan, Bradley had the big voice and the stage presence I didn’t get either from David sadly. I’ve been proven wrong before though so will be interested to see him in a new months when he’s settled into the role.
I’ve rambled but as I said to start, the show is fine for the tourists and first timers, but for seasoned fans I’d see the tour cast.
