O yes, good news. I’d better leave a Saturday night free in Feb/March.

I mentioned here on August 19 that I had tickets for this and as things turned out I was glad I got to go. What a lovely venue the Theatre Royal Bath is.
The set for this play was quite something, but tricky to take it on the road for what would be a welcome tour wherever it stopped en route. But if there is a possibility of the production being staged at somewhere like the Wyndhams, presumably for a few months, then reconstruction of the set would be fairly straightforward and worthwhile. As for the cast, if it is as it was for Bath then it'll be a play to savour. This deserves more than just a few week-run at a regional theatre that was astute enough to see the possibilities. London would be a good location for a medium run, yet if it settled at Liverpool, Manchester, Norwich or wherever it'd surely attract good audiences for a healthy run.

No problem. I’m sure the dynamic ticket pricing system will kick in at some point to get those cheaper tickets.

Saw it in Bath, highly recommended, for me one of this year’s highlights.

Not always very high value in terms of ticket yield or donations

Hmm .. the monkey nests are £27.50 which is double what I paid for them for Long Day's Journey Into Night. Will hang on I think!

Aha, there is a thread! I was just about to start one until I found this.
I don't know the play at all, and managed to be completely oblivious to the run last summer. But I love the only other Miller I know (Death of a Salesman, obvs) and David Suchet (in Amadeus) remains one of my very strongest theatre performance memories, so I'm pretty sold on this one.
Does anyone know of any particularly good value seats? I went with someone here's recommendation of a box for Company, and it was excellent value for money. I can't see that the boxes are on sale for this, unless they've already been sold for the Saturday matinees.

The monkey nest seats up in the Balcony are very good value for money. They are the individual seats on Row A. They aren’t full seats as such so may require a bit of body twisting to get comfy. They also have limited legroom. The view through is great.

The boxes won't go on sale until previews, and nor will the front row, so you may pick up a bargain in either, @elanor . The issue in the nests is the width of the seat rather than the legroom in front for most. It's pretty narrow for the wide hipped. View is fine for the cash, but now they are one above lowest price not quite such a bargain, I always think. Back rows of the balcony are also OK. I find the C row seats deeper, D wider.
Thanks. My hips are um... not narrow! I think maybe I'll wait and see about boxes and front row! I'll have a proper look at the others too.

I've got an opportunity to send Adrian Lukis some questions for View from the Cheap Seat? Does anyone have anything they want to ask about the production?

Saw this with Warren Mitchell. Can't remember thinking at the time this was one of Miller's best.
Latest pricing scam: TWO sets of premium tickets! I imagine the long-term plan is to eventually make all stalls and good circle seats "premium".

What puzzles me about premium seats is where do the Producers and VIPs now sit, when 'their' seats were sold six months ago?
This from the DMT website: "A limited number of the very best seats, previously held for the Producers or VIPs, are now available to book in advance."
I do sometimes think we are taken for fools.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the free market, and charging what the market will (Burly) bear, but all I want is honesty.
If large numbers of premium seats go on sale on the first day of booking, then I would argue that they are neither limited*, in the generally accepted sense of the word, nor previously held, unless by previously they mean pre Book of Mormon.
* I appreciate all theatres have a limited number of seats, but I mean small in number.

I gave a mini observation on page 1 of this thread.
Now it is transferring, I would say David Suchet has the Olivier in the bag for this one, oddly enough he has never won an Olivier, which is a mini scandal in itself. He certainly raised the bar, in this onem when I saw it in Theatre Royal, Bath - his performance was very nuanced, superb and shone. I remember his performance today, as it was yesterday.

I'm hoping to see this & think Adrian Lukis is strangely under-rated & should be better known.

No reports on this yet after three previews?? Its long!! Bloke next to me had the right idea and fell asleep through most of it. Think this could have had a good 20-30 mins knocked off and be much better for it. Quite a slow builder in the first half with David Suchet doing all the comedy legwork. Second half comes along and it all escalates and we sort of just lose David. The warring brothers keep on digging in and it all gets a bit confusing with all the different revelations. Not a terrible play at all, just a bit too much for me tonight.
