Mary Poppins will do well - its a family show and there is a new generation of kids now for it. I didn't see the tour but the original show at the Prince Edward didn't quite have the successful run they thought - although it did run for 3 years - I think longer was expected. It caused a bit of furore at the time as kids under 3 were banned and it was recommended for kids aged 7 plus as it was too scary! I think this got amended for Broadway. Wouldn't it be loverley (wrong show) if kids were banned altogether? With these ‘kids’ shows’ I wish they’d schedule some Adults Only performances. They have Relaxed Performances now after all... I’d have gone along to Aladdin and Wind in the Willows, but I’m buggered if I’m parting with good money to risk sitting in a theatre full of kids and their (more often than not) badly behaved parents.

I thought the recent tour was superb, with a pretty great cast. I'd be surprised to see Zizi take on Mary P, unless Strictly Ballroom closes very quickly.... The Adelphi does feel like the right sort of venue for this show, and I think the flying would work very well in it. And I'll also chuck in a vote for Emma Williams as Mary (I vote for her in anything basically....) Emma Williams only originates though, sadly, as brilliant as she’d be. Tad off topic but just for everyone’s info:

Glad it’s coming back for London but just hope it’s a filler. Can see Mean Girls doing well here, they could have an amazing FoH. Mary Poppins will be good commercially, when’s it supposed to open?

I love Emma Williams, I think she’s one of our greatest stage performers. I’ve loved her in everything I’ve seen her in and can’t wait to continue loving her performances for as long as she’s on the stage. Knowing this also means, I can still hope that she’ll play Glinda, and Mary Poppins, and many more roles she didn’t originate!

Also Charlie Stemp for Bert. What a casting coup that would be for CM to cast Emma Williams and Charlie Stemp alongside each other yet again. They do have the most wonderful chemistry.

I know that Cameron Mackintosh wants to bring back Mary Poppins, as he mentioned in the Hamilton programme, it was going to go in the refurbished Victoria Palace, but who would turn down Hamilton?
Where has this rumour come from that Poppins is going into the Adelph I don’t think it will run that long 18 months, if rumour is true.

I would not be surprised at all if Williams and Stemp lead this... I think they should be playing Bill and Sally in Me And My Girl - just a shame the timings didn’t work. I 100% agree that this is the next best thing.

Looks like this show is going ahead, as casting offers are currently being made for the leads.

Wonder if they will just bring over/give first refusal to the cast performing in Hamburg at the moment? Or does that contract overrun the London timings?

I don’t know at this point if that could be true for some roles, but the offers I know of so far are not members of the Hamburg cast.

I did hear the other day that Strictly is on it's way out before the year is up, and Zizi is being offered Mary again for when this opens next year...

I had a conversation with Zizi at an event in the gap between Mary on tour and when it went to the International venue it went too. She said that she had heard there were discussions over the tour going into the West End since the tour opened, and if she was offered the chance to do it in London, she would do it 100% given she was free. She has done Follies and Strictly between then, so hopefully she will do it.

I don’t know, I would love to see Mary Poppins again (after seeing the tour three times) but Im ready to see someone else in the role.
Zizi gave a fantastic performance every time but the way she sang the high notes didn’t sit right with me. Not sure if I call it nasally or something but hearing her sing ‘pERfect’ sounded off to me
Don’t mind seeing her again but Ill try and catch her understudy

The last UK tour cast was for me the weakest I've seen, really wasn't a fan of Zizi at all. If the show must come back Gina would be great, or Emma Williams or someone completely new

I saw the original production back in 2005 and it's still one of the most amazing shows I've seen; that set was incredible, I don't know what other set can come close - it was an entire house on stage. Everything is done so cheaply these days that I'm guessing it'll be a watered down tour-style production coming in for a limited run, right? Also I have to say no one has come close to Laura Michelle Kelly's original interpretation of the title role - she was not a caricature, she was so nuanced and she played the role to perfection. I feel with all subsequent Marys we had too many high pitched musical theatre-Glinda-style leading ladies (don't know how else to describe it) rather than Kelly's version which was actually quite moving especially near the end of the show. No other Mary has matched what Kelly brought out in the Anything Can Happen number. My personal thoughts of course!

It had the full house on stage and was incredibly impressive,by no means were any elements skimped upon. I'd expect that set is still in storage and would be utilized for a West End production.

As much as I loved the original set, it seems unlikely that we'll get that again given the touring set is probably in storage and is only a notch down in terms of quality. I thought the pop-up effect worked really well - in fact I thought it was one of the best tours I've seen. Thrilled it'll be back

Carrie Hope Fletcher for the role of Mary Poppins? In fairness to her she was pretty decent as Truly Scrumptious which is somewhat similar. I don’t think she’ll get it but I don’t think she’d do awfully
