I imagine if they're planning on closing, it'll either be January or February. I reckon your right so then it can go straight out on tour in March/April time.

I imagine if they're planning on closing, it'll either be January or February. You're probably right. The first West-End run ended on 12 January (2008--I still remember that evening). Anyway, the show seems to soldier on!!! Mary is a toughie!

I think I´m in the minority here, but I thought Zizi Strallen was wonderful. She truly did the role her own, which is a very rare thing in a Disney show. To each their own, I guess.

I think Zizi Strallen is a good performer, in that she "performs" the role of Mary Poppins - sings, dances etc. I just think the character as she plays it is a bit too cartoonish and lacks the gravitas and knowing wisdom that Mary has.

Also find the way she sings vowels in the high register distractingly nasally. Not sure how to describe it but she suddenly jumps into the ceiling of her mouth/naval cavity or something.
Practically pEEERfect.
Not an expert of vocals if anyone could clarify

Very sad, but I guess for a revivals, and in the times we’ve lived through since it opened in autumn 2019, it’s done pretty well. I absolutely loved it when I saw opening night in November that year.
And with it closing on 8th Jan at least they’ll hopefully get some fairly full houses over the Christmas period.
So what next for the Prince Edward? Is Oliver! still on the cards?

It's a shame but the run has been blighted by COVID. I wish it had been as good as the original production as then I'd have been tempted to go more.

One of my favourite shows since childhood. I doubt this is the last we're going to see of old Mary tho.
I believe a UK Tour is on the cards at some point in 2023.

It’s had a respectable run, I think it wouldn’t have run much longer even without Covid.

Tickets for the last two extensions (from 3 October to closing date) are slightly more expensive: premium seats now £175 (from £165) and all £40 seats are now £42.5). Also, more seats are sold at premium prices (stalls row O, dress circle row C, especially during Christmas). Final show selling quickly (only one DC slip seat left) but, unlike "Come from Away", still far from selling out. Anyone going? (Obviously I am!)

Interesting that Cameron said that Mary Poppins was only planned to run for two years.

Mr B told us this months ago…but it had a great run. Most shows aren’t built to run for 10+ years.

This is a more of a generic question but Mary Poppins comes to mind since it’s in the middle of Soho and since I was at Pride yesterday… how do the shows cope? There’s so many people and noise etc. can it heard from inside or am I underestimating the level of sound proofing?

There’s so many people and noise etc. can it heard from inside or am I underestimating the level of sound proofing? Different theatre, but I was at Jersey Boys yesterday afternoon which is right on the Pride route (it was chaos trying to get to the theatre - show started 20 minutes late and a load of people came in after that) and you could certainly hear the parade inside. The music inside hid it, but as soon as the sound went down you could hear people enjoying Pride.

There’s so many people and noise etc. can it heard from inside or am I underestimating the level of sound proofing? The only time I've been to the theatre during Pride afternoon was the Prince Edward Theatre (to see Martin Guerre). We arrived late as it was a nightmare getting across London, due to crowded underground trains and streets, but thankfully the show too started late, so there was no problem. But you couldn't hear anything at all from outside the theatre as soon as you were in the auditorium and all the doors were closed. I guess it depends on the theatre though. I know someone who lived upstairs from a theatre that Les Mis was playing in, and could hear the gunshots from the barricades every night.

Went back tonight for the first time since before covid and this show is in AMAZING shape. The energy was crazy from the cast. I found it more powerful, touching, exciting than I had remembered and the audience loved it. Huge standing ovation at the end. 5 STARS FROM ME!

Going to London Sunday whats the chance of getting 4 days seats ? Or any other ideas for cheap tickets 👍🎶 Dayseats sold online at 10:30am for £30. Can buy 2 per person - should be easy enough to get but you’ll need two people to purchase 2 each www.delfontmackintosh.co.uk/whats-on/mary-poppins/day-seats

According to the show's Instagram account, many members of the "post-pandemic cast" have left the company. You would have thought their contracts would be extended till the show's closing date in January.
