St Helens (Merseyside) so I frequent theatres in Manchester/Salford/Liverpool.
Have to agree with previous posts that the Manchester metro system is a great way to traverse the city and surrounding areas very cheaply and allows you to do a double show day relatively easy.
I try and get down to London at least once a month for a long weekend for a theatre binge.

North London about 30m Tube from West End ditto. Ditto ditto. Though I usually take the bus home...a little longer but nearly door to door. Being spoilt for choice living in London, I don't travel a lot for theatre. I occasionally go to Stratford or Glyndebourne and try to sneak in a play/opera (or three) when visiting a friend in Vienna. For reasons that now escape me I once saw the Blue Man Group in Boston. I might go wild this year and venture to Milton Keynes for the Glyndebourne Tour.

My journey into Euston takes 30 minutes which is a blessing - although the late rains home stop everywhere... which adds on a considerable amount of time. The seams for a seat at the weekend has become quite the killer recently though.

From the North-West of England, currently in South-West London, soon to be moving to Manchester.
Currently work in the middle of the West End, so it's far too handy for seeing shows after work. I'm actually trying to have something of a detox as I felt like I was going far too much.
Looking forward to a fun but slightly quieter theatre scene up North, but I'm sure trips to London will still be regular enough.

It’s a really nice theatre, but criminally underused. It’s mainly tribute shows! There are plenty of places to eat in the town centre that are close to the theatre.

I'm originally from Germany and used to fly over to London and other places in the UK several times a year to catch a show in the West End or on tour. Now living in South East London

I’ll be interested in your opinion about the theatre huleman. Ironically I have only been to the towns theatre twice as there is very little of interest that gets put on there. Though I believe Blood Brothers is coming there sometime this year so I may try and get a ticket.

Live near Croydon so roughly 30 min train ride to London so is easy to go and makes it nice and easy to day seat and come back home. Don't really go outside London for theatre but if I need to it is nit too difficult. Also from Croydon so as my blog shows it is mostly London but Southern have limited my access to North London so tend to head central mostly. I rarely consider Wimbledon and Richmond, for example, despite their closeness because transport at night is awful My boyfriend is from West Sussex so I head to Chichester and try and combine it with a visit to his parents but I regret I am too poor to go there or Southampton/Brighton more often

Of course that was both before the internet and the rise in day-seating so I rarely need to use TKTS now; plus I have a longer journey these days so usually book ahead, but Snicole, if you haven't already considered it, you could use Southern to get to Watford (for the Palace Theatre). They are just about to revive Arthur Miller's Broken Glass and the theatre is only a brisk, straightforward walk from Watford Junction.

My chosen train this morning was cancelled which led me to wonder about cancellations this evening, so I've thrown another bouzouki on the fire and decided to stay at home.

Best stay at home and keep warm!

I live in West London now, 25 min on the train into central Theatreland. Previously lived in Leeds so did theatregoing there as well as Sheffield, Bradford, York and Harrogate. Was born in Oldham so the rep and various theatres in Manchester plus Ashton's Tameside were my first shows.

🎵 I like the isle of Manhattan... ...But I grew up in Prestatyn! 🎵
More recently I lived in Croydon and then Sutton which helped with my West End habits. Now I live in Leamington Spa so don't get to see as much London theatre these days. Nearby Coventry has won City of Culture 2021, so hopefully the local Belgrade Theatre will start to get some more interesting productions...

Spanish here. Moved to London 20 years ago. Now I lived near Gatwick. Day trips to London every other week, sometimes more often. Chichester is only a 40 minute drive from where I live. Work takes me to New York sometimes

Newcastle upon Tyne, so have the pick of the local theatres, plus an easy train journey to either York, Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester or London. Quite cheap direct flights to Düsseldorf too if I fancy a Starlight Express fix.

I worked in London during the 70s/80s which is where my love of musicals began with "Billy" starring Michael Crawford. Now living in South Shields with plenty of North East theatres to choose from and the occasional trips to Manchester, Liverpool and Edinburgh.

It’s a long time ago now but in my experience the hills around Salzburg were alive with restaurants serving delicious food to give sustenance to the walkers who had ascended to the top!

For those of us who travel - Virgin trains seat sale for April and May, starts tomorrow, with early bird access tonight. Announced just after I'd booked my train tickets, argh, but maybe of use to you?

Announced just after I'd booked my train tickets, argh, but maybe of use to you? I once managed to exchange my more expensive tickets for a cheaper tickets with a small fee of £10 for the exchange. Give them a call and see if they will do this for you (That was Virgin East Coast)

Rhode Island in the US. "New" England. Last July was my first trip to London. I spent 3 weeks there and, thanks to all the wonderful information and advice from all of you, saw some of the most incredible shows. I never even knew I loved the theatre until then. Unfortunately all the walking broke my knees. I didn't know I had arthritis until coming home and asked doctors why I couldn't walk . I'm now sitting in my recliner, with ice packs on my two NEW knees. Coming back to London at end of October for another 3 weeks and I should be able to walk anywhere and everywhere I want. I'm spending my recuperation starting to plan trip. So far have tickets to Hamilton, Company and King Lear. Want to see 42nd Street again also. Hopefully soon I will be able to do the cancellation line at Hamilton Broadway so I can have a good sense of differences. I saw Angels in America when I was over there and should be healed up enough to get to NY and see it there. I don't know how I could possibly have a comparable reaction to seeing it again. It was more amazing than I could even imagine. But then Lee Pace is such an incentive. I've been surprised that tickets are still so available. More information than you asked for?
