Caught the show last night on a £20 lottery ticket (Stalls A10).
Had a great evening - good fun, hard working ensemble and an incredible number of costume changes!!
Wasn’t on my list to see, but tried a couple of lotteries and this one came up with the goods! Glad I’ve seen it!!

I took my other half to see this a couple of months ago. He's a big Disney fan and I tend to quite like the movies.
We both thought it was serviceable family entertainment but hated the lazy pantomime elements. I didn't enjoy a second of the Genie tbh. From the circle, the flying magic carpet was beautiful staging but I thought the production as a whole was strangely lacking in the joy department. All power to it though, it's certainly done the business over the last few years and I know people who love it.

Was in Wetherspoons in Leicester Square with my daughter last year when we encountered a group of ladies of a certain age who were dressed to the nines and dripping in bling.Got talking to them(as you do). They were on a coach outing from Leeds and were the worse for drink.Their table had every beverage known to man scattered around. They took to my little un and made a fuss of her. They informed me that they were ‘just having a top-up’before they set off to see Aladdin of all things. Not sure if they made it to the theatre in the end or managed to breach security 🍷.What a lark!

Just reading on Facebook that the magic carpet hasn't been working for a few days now! They sing Whole New World on the windowsill instead.
I wonder if they're going to bother to get it fixed now the show only has a few weeks left to run?

Just reading on Facebook that the magic carpet hasn't been working for a few days now Ah, explains why someone was standing on the stage door step with it and a carpet beater - trying to get it to start. Maybe it's gone on strike for better working conditions, if it keeps on being beaten!

I think there may be an underlaying theme going on here...btw I had a load of carpets and mats stolen from my house last week...police think it’s the work of rug addicts!

Did we ever work out if Jade Ewan has left? Maybe there was some kind of row between her and the carpet

She was just tired of Matthew Cooke getting all the headlines for his rug-ged good looks.

Did I post this before? Anyway...I learned that they will be filming it for BroadwayHD (or one of the streaming sites) in London. It will be the full London cast except the two leads will be from the US.

Do we think closing night prices might come down a bit? I love a closing night but they seem crazy prices right now

Sorry if this is a frequent question, but where are the day seats for this show ? A specific area, or just where there are free seats ?

When I day seated last year, it was a random free seat (towards the back of the Dress Circle). Were you allowed to choose, or did the box office select one for you? I wasn’t offered a choice. It was also a fairly quiet day (extra weekday matinee), so I don’t know if the seat would have been as good for a regular performance.

When are they actually filming it? It's being filmed on the 31st August. So after it closes. Not sure how tickets are being distributed, other than that my work has an internal competition going to get tickets. It is "featuring an international cast representative of the show from all over the world".

^I suspect it’ll be late next year or 2021, I imagine they’ll use one of the existing tour sets for a UK tour

So there are are only 8 public performances left of Aladdin! The prices haven't come down so it will be at least £50 to get a seat this week! Seems crazy to me.
Who else is there closing night?

I've not got around to seeing it at all and won't before it closes.
I'm fine with that.

I wonder if Disney would have kept it going a bit longer had Cameron not wanted Mary Poppins to go back to the Prince Edward as the live action film has probably boosted sales

Been meaning to post this review for a while now.
So a couple of weeks ago my sister and I went with a visiting Aunt and Uncle to see this.
Now, I need to make it perfectly clear that it's not a case that I didn't enjoy it. I mean I'm please that I saw it but, ultimately, I walked away with a sense of frustration.
Singing, dancing and sets were great, as were the special effects however (in truth) we found the whole thing to be a little panto.
The Genie and the flying carpet were the best things in it.
Quite frankly, Jafar was nearly as evil as he should have been. And e walked around with that bloody staf and did nothing with it! Where was the storyline about hypnotising the Sultan? Iago was 100% panto comedy sidekick.
So Aladdin goes into The Cave of Wonders to get the lamp and when he does, the ensemble come out and =do a huge tap dancing production number dressed in gold lane- this was 42nd Street.
And Aladdin's three mates, the added nothing to the show. The were just time killers and fodder.
With a few little teaks this could have been so much better.
I'm sorry, extremely disappointing
