I thought she was weak tbh, idk if she was just having a bad night, but she was disappointing... WEAK!? Oh wow, no way! She's the strongest Deena I've seen vocally and acting wise. You must of caught her on a REALLY BAD night then as I've seen her when she's been sick and she still sounds AMAZING

Why is it so hard to simply accept that someone doesn't think Liisi is the best Deena ever. I liked Joe Aaron Reid as Curtis but I know he's not everyone's cup of tea. Doesn't make my opinion less valid and doesn't mean those who don't like him are wrong either.

Um, okay, let me have my own opinion. Maybe you've got the wrong Deena, are u sure you didn't see one of the understudies? You need to accept that the whole point of a forum us for people to post their OPINIONS. People are entitled to disagree with you, you are not entitled to tell them their opinion is wrong, because opinions are never right or wrong, they're just subjective. And the number of times you have seen a show is completely and utterly meaningless - just because you've seen it multiple times doesn't give you any bragging rights over anyone else. Your inability to accept that people are allowed to think differently to you is getting really tiresome.

Booked to see this on a Friday. Seen Amber and Marisha in the role, loved Marisha’s acting and would’ve loved to have seen her again but seeing Moya this time. Anybody seen her yet? Is she good at both the acting and signing and as good as Marisha? Thanks!
Loved the Strictly performance, amazing group dance. Thought Brenyn sounded amazing too as Deena! Loved Liisi but Brenyn could be even better!

I wouldn't be surprised if they have a redo of some of the cast on Broadway (if the yransfer ever happens). If they go with Amber, they would have to start with an alternate who is promised two performanfes at least to avoid the whole "name above the title, offering refunds" nonsense. She didn't really help herself for most of her run in making the producers confident in that sense. I wouldn't be surprised to see Marisha go over to Broadway given her reviews and reliability in the role.
I actually wouldn't be surprised to see a switch of Deena. I too thought Liisi was amazing in the role, but if she is paired with Marisha, they are gonna want a star in their somewhere just to boost sales. If Marisha does get Broadway, I wouldn't be surprised to see Liisi be the one to get bumped out.

Just seen the video of the cast singing on Strictly. I was convinced twice was enough to see Dreamgirls but I need to see the new cast. Marisha sounds good, sloppy riffs but over all very good, but Brennyn sounds amazing.

I've only just watched it too... Marisha sounds amazing as always, and all four girls look stunning. But based on that performance, not meaning to just follow suit, Brennyn sounds way stronger vocally than Liisi. And Liisi was amazing in the role, so I can only imagine how Brennyn will be when I see the show next! What great promo for the show, the girls slayed!

It's not gonna be an official transfer, it will stay here, a production will just open on broadway, Amber has basically confirmed and Liisi has a high chance of getting it! Sonia said the other day she's not letting her go so we'll see what happens...

Brennyn's acting is far to enthusiastic in my opinion, a bit like Deena is on drugs mainly in Act 1, wasn't that keen, I personally prefer her understudy Nicole, but will give Brennyn time to grow, Liisi will always be my No.1 Deena no questions asked, the voice, the growls, the power, the emotion, the acting choices, EVERYTHING about Liisi's portrayal of Deena Jones was perfect in my eyes and no one can beat that...

I wasn't taken by the performance on SCD or the two new leads. Maybe i'll feel differently about them in the show itself. Though i don't really plan to go back until maybe the latter half of next year.

I agree, I really do think this show need a “famous” person to hide behind, the book is fairly weak and although I think the score is great and memorable I can see why some may disagree. As much as I would love it to stay, I just don’t think it will happen.

I think the show is good, but very much leaning more towards an "entertainment" rather than a piece of theatre.
I think that's why I don't engage with it, because pure entertainment shows are not generally my thing.
The film was more engaging because it was better contextualised and served the story far better than a very conceptual stage production. I definitely wouldn't see it a third time and find the fascination with all the interchanging performers on here very curious. Is it a gay/diva worship thing??

To answer your question, its not a gay thing. Its people being interested in a show and the cast and the ongoing confusion over the cast, that has continued from day one when Ruth and Karen were announced to alternate being alternates. Who people on this board choose to be in a relationship with or sleep with has nothing to do with it.

I’m not a spokesperson for anyone but myself, especially when I say this. But I personally find lumping all people who fit within a protected characteristic under one umbrella, or label them as behaving in a particular way, very uncomfortable.

Seen the show with new cast for first time on Tuesday. I was happy with some things and some other things seem like a downgraded performance. The new Deena was good (not as good as Liisi) however she is capable and will get better as weeks go on. Marisha has improved so much since I saw her last and really was amazing. Joe's vocals were good and he owns the part with authority (previously vocals were a bit iffy) the new ensemble looked good and did well. Kimmy was ok as Michelle but its such a BLEH part hard to get excited about it (improvement on last michelle for sure!)
The new Marty was underwhelming. Singing wise really poor however acting got better as the more gritty acting came into play.
For Jimmy really hoped Tosh would be amazing but he just wasnt. I had a feeling that Adam's Jimmy would never be surpassed and I stand by that. Tosh is good in the more comedic parts however his vocals are not a patch on Adams and he goes into these weird tones at certain points when just singing (with soul) is more appropriate. His dancing aint as good as Adams either. I felt whilst watching him that I was watching an understudy (a good understudy) but not quite the star that this role requires.
Ashmeret was excellent as usual and her comedy gets better each time. Her chemistry with Tosh was really good as well!.

I wonder how much of a repeat audience this show gets? Because I think that, to an extent, like some shows in Londoj, this may be one that relies on repeat audiences to survive through the quieter months.

Despite wanting to since it opened and entering the Todaytix lottery many times, I've yet to see the show so can't answer the "repeat attendance" question and my patience may be untypical. However, I'm as keen as ever and there must be some at least in the same situation.
So when I recently saw advance stalls seats on Todaytix for a surprisingly low price, I was a bit wary, but succumbed, so the cast change may explain these - or maybe there is some falling off in interest or both, though with Xmas approaching other shows seem busy.
Anyway, I shall soon see for myself, but whatever I think, I won't be returning as I've always got a long list of productions to book.

Marisha's album is now available to buy in the theatre, but the vinyl edition. Its a tad strange move as I imagine she could of shifted a few copies, but vinyl isn't for everyone. It should be CD format to shift more.
I wonder if they will be selling it at Moya and Karen's performances too, or just Marisha's?

I've seen this twice now - and both times it was with the heavily reduced Stalls seats on TodayTix. They often have single seats in the first few rows in advance for not much more than the Lottery prices. The first time was way before the cast change, so it's not new. Otherwise, this still gets pretty full from my experience.
