Title is still embargoed, but they're looking for six young actors who play musical instruments to play schoolboys for April's production.

The 2016 Chichester production of Fracked! by Alistair Beaton is touring this spring with James Bolam and Anne Reid. There are no plans to play London.

Only popped into my head because I'm reading 'Writing Home' at the mo. Also, does anyone remember the announcement that DE was going to direct a new Sherlock Holmes play next year. I remember the press release mentioning a UK premiere as opposed to a London one. So maybe CFT...

Sherlock Holmes and the Schoolboy Sextet, perhaps?

Nothing appears to have leaked does it? Usually by this time of year we have some idea of the main musical at least?
No doubt we will have to await the emails in the New Year about the announcement of the announcement of the announcement!

Well, they're under new leadership now, so there's no reason to automatically expect a similar timeline, and maybe we'll even be spared the announcementception email cycle!

They are being super strict about the embargo. Even the actors auditioning are not being told what play it's for.

New team or not, dont see why they cant announce the season before christmas. Indeed as others have said, its unusual that no productios have been leaked!

Half a Sixpence was already known before the announcement because the creative team had confirmed it in interviews,

I'm particularly keen to have details of the full season, as I was given a membership for the first time last year and would renew if it was worth it, but what with the cost and increasing difficulty of travelling with Southern, the programming will be critical to my decision.

I guess we will all have to wait. Irritating though, especially as Leicester Curve have announced Sunset Boulevard and Scrooge for Autumn and Christmas and the Summer season at Chichester - usually starting in April has not been announced yet!

CFT said the new season would be announced on 11 February, which is annoyingly late. My membership has now expired but I'm not renewing it unless/until they announce several productions I want to see - and that certainly would certainly exclude any more blasted Sondheim and would have to include some interesting new plays and a revival or two.

Oh right at least we have a date. Actually going from previous years that is about right or even a bit early. Though i dont see why they wait til after xmas. Be v surprised if there isnt a Sondheim somewhere. Unusual there have been no leaks as to shows? The new regime arw keeping a tight lid on the reperatory.

It's probably all changed since then.

I heard the same announcement on EP. Let's face it you listen to that show for the music.
So I would say Pippin, even though Chichester are preparing for the 2017 announcement, I would have thought they are already planning 2018 shows.

It just don't make sense no matter what EP says.... Mr Evans's first season and he's putting on a transfer? And said transfer uses the circus as a setting as did Barnum which was on just 4 years ago? Which didn't go down very well

It's at Hope Mill, an emerging theatre, and quite different from a Broadway show.
A new artistic director might very well programme a major transfer at one end of their first season. For example, Rupert Goold began his first Almeida year with a remount of Headlong's 1984 and ended it with a remount of his RSC The Merchant of Venice, also including a remount of the Barrow Street Theatre production of Our Town in the middle!

Is the forthcoming Manchester production of Pippin "major" though? Depends how you define major. The Hope Mill is about the size of the SWP, Katy Lipson is producing it. It won't be big, but it won't be thrown together either.
