Dear god this is awful. I've not really heard much about it. Is it a real performing arts school or one of these scripted TOWIE progs? My guess is that latter.

Well Ive never been to stage school so given that my entire experience is this programme and the TV series of Fame, I believe that it is perfectly normal for people there to burst into song with full backing at every emotional crisis, with a camera crew picking up multiple camera angles. How could it possibly not be real?!!!!

Crap. Why can't I watch UK TV over here? Think I need to find myself a UK proxy.

Turned off the tv when that girl started singing after she didn't get in the 'girl band'. I went to a very well known drama school and can guarantee it wasn't a thing like this!

Catching up now and this really is awful. Obviously it's staged, but is anything natural? I never watch Towie, GS, MIC so am completely unaccustomed to anything like this

Oh God. This was even worse than I envisaged. It's like a hideous mash-up of TOWIE and Glee. Eurgh.

Just searched the hashtag #stageschool and the comments are 99% negative. Sounds like an utter car crash. Might watch the first episode online later just to see what all of the hilarity is about, because I've never seen the crying eyes smiley face emoji used more on Twitter. Amazing. Mind you, we all saw it coming.

One of the 'stars' of this show is going to be in Dreamgirls (and was also in Grand Hotel at Southwark Playhouse)

This seems to be the right school for producing the dreadful delusional early audition acts on xfactor. The worst kind of place taking money from kids with very limited talent and letting them think they have a chance.

The Gladys Pugh bit with that teacher talking over the tannoy about "how important the girl band is" was hilaire. I'm not familiar with the word 'hilaire'. Is it some type of northern Cockney rhyming slang type thingy? (Hilaire Belloc = bollocks.) Or is it a fey way of saying hillyhairyarse?

Too lazy?!?! Burly is on this board day and night, working tirelessly to keep us informed and amused, and in lean times of discussion he is always there to generate new topics of conversation. (Even though a fair few of the latter seem to focus on female performers he dislikes.) He was obviously trying to sound "more posh". Which is strange, as I'd always been of the opinion that he was posh.

Took the plunge and watched the first two episodes last night. Is it just me, or do all of the girls basically look the same? I had a real issue telling them apart. Also not a lot happened, and what did happen was embarrassingly unconvincing. I might continue to tune in though, how can I have proper opinions if I don't actually watch what I'm talking about?

And and I am indeed, dead posh. So shut yer gob

Reminds me of Kenneth Williams in Carry On Cleo: "Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me...!" "Misogyny! Misogyny! They've all got m' soggy knee!" Doesn't work nearly as well, of course. But sums up my feelings really.

This probably won't go down well but I'm going to say it.
I find "lyrical dance" preposterous.
There.

Still in shock... I could have sworn I once saw you cavorting about the stage in the Manchesterford Amateur Light Operatic Society's Annual Experimantal Dance Spectacular in which you performed in a gold leotard (and turban) to As If We Never Said Goodbye. And it definitely said 'Lyrical Dance' in the programme. I thought you were jolly good.
