Wimps. Comfort break? Ha, just done Mary Stuart at Almeida. SAS training. Remember when the Almeida toilets were in a portacabin ? THAT was SAS training. Indeed I do. We gals had to stand in the rain to queue. I think that actually did train me 😳😳

If there was a left wing version of the Daily Mail, with the same journalistic qualities I would buy it. There is, The Guardian, exactly the same level of propaganda and biased reporting. For example, Daily Mail attacks UK Supreme court judges because they think their (supposed) political views will affect their judgement. The Guardian attacks the judge nominated for the US Supreme Court because they think his (supposed) political views will affect his judgement. Perfect symmetry. One of those has a superb full time theatre critic!!!

Sorry for being off topic but as a loyal Guardianista there's nothing 'supposed' about Gorsuch's political views! Not a wholly similar comparison.

To bring this back on topic, I don't know why they're doing the intervals like that. Every other production I've seen of it (only 4, admittedly, but still), has had 2 x 15 minute intervals, one after each act. Act Two is the longest, so if the full 20 minute break comes after it, you're asking people to sit still for a LONG time.

Yes, and of course he has been nominated precisely because of his political views, as are all US Supreme Court judges. They have a very different system to ours; our judges are supposed not to let their political views cloud their judgement whereas in the US it is expected, indeed hoped, by their supporters that their views will determine their judgement.

Any idea what's happening with the row A seats? Have these been sold already? Was hoping they would show up as rush tickets on TodayTix.

It's horribly underpowered
Staunton behaves like she did in Gypsy
Not a patch on the Kathleen Turner one
She has way more stage presence and power than Staunton

I hated the Kathleen Turner version. She can do ballsy and broad comedy but is simply incapable of being delicate or vulnerable. Its such a difficut role and probably easy for actresses to get carried away with the stridency to a point where they can't retreat. Claire Higgins was magnificent in this when in a saw her in a largely empty Malvern auditorium a couple of years ago. Such a shame it never transferred

Perhaps the issue is
The play is so dated and repetitive
I am still here
I have seen worse
But it's just so tedious
And the casting seems wrong
Just because Imelda Staunton is in it
Doesn't make it automatically good
Also I find the characters very 2D

For all our new readers/followers, Parsley tends to not enjoy a lot of things. Don't let the views said above change your view of the show as it was its first preview, but also because it comes from a person who really doesn't enjoy many things.

Just seen on Instagram that they have signs in the theatre saying about not eating in the theatre too, so they are really making a point of that with this production, and rightly so!
