Got mine too - had to juggle a bit to get the seats I wanted but landed some good side dress circle seats. Am already booked in twice for this show at regular prices, but have a hunch that it will be a good 'un and people 'in the know' have fed back positive vibes.

Finally got through, it said on the holding page £10 seats are sold out but still seem to be a few, though not on dates that work for me. Might go for a pillar seat later in the run!

It’s all coup de chance with these Queues - for Christmas Carol I learned a bit late, got in and was 107, today I was at the webpage super early and had landed only in the second thousand. Bit stressful and also a two ticket limit applied but I eventually got x3 Dress circle side (never sat there, hope it’s fine) for the very first preview (and the only date I could have made anyway) with a little help from my friends

Very large cast just announced for this with a fair few well known theatre names in there.

New seats released - anybody booked for rows E or F who thought they were at the front might want to switch...

More random ticketing weirdness from the Old Vic, who have now released Row A for sale for this show.
Good way to alienate existing ticket holders who might like to have been further forward.

Its ok, they were only £85 when I looked 😩
…so they not only think its ok to screw their members over but have deigned that the view from the front row is worth £85!!! (It isn’t).

I’ll be sticking with my £22 Q35 stalls seat I think after seeing those front row prices.

I’ve just booked front row for next week (so still in previews) and it was £60 - guess the £85 is for a Sat later in the run?
Have had the issue in the past with the OV though where I’ve booked what was front row then seen additional rows added - but found the Box Office were very helpful and happy to switch my booking for me.

Does this have a life planned after the Old Vic?

Fairly sure the future life was planned before the Old Vic!

Not sure, once I've seen it on Friday I'll probably have more of an idea!

Not sure, once I've seen it on Friday I'll probably have more of an idea! Yeah, I'm there too on Friday. Am looking forward to this show, but as a longstanding member their drip-feeding of tickets and releasing of rows really pisses me off.

Being totally fair to them, it's quite standard practice that once a show finishes tech and begins dress rehearsals, it becomes apparent whether the rows you've blocked off can be added back in or not.
I know it's rubbish, but it's just how it goes sometimes I'm afraid.

I'm surprised this has a life planned after the old vic run, it doesn't seem an obvious show to have wider long life appeal (unless it gets 5 star rave reviews of course)

It is rubbish. They are one of the only theatres that block photographs on Seatplan, so you can’t even see what you’re getting beforehand. Theres no view from seat on their website, so you just have to believe that the views in their ‘old as the hills full of pillars’ theatre are acceptable, especially for a brand new totally unknown in form or story musical.

Have to say this theatre has some of the worst views of any theatre in London. I left at the interval of Sylvia as I could barely see anything. The staff were quite rude and wouldn't move me.

I had no idea the Old Vic did this - or that any theatre could. It certainly looks bad for them as what positive reason could they give? And why should such behaviour inspire audience confidence and willingness to risk sometimes large sums on booking? It's enough of a gamble for a new production, but when you also have no idea whether you'll be able to see it from your seat, that's disgraceful and suspicious. Bottom line is that if the Old Vic doesn't trust its audience members with all the information they need, they can't expect the latter to trust the Old Vic with their custom.

Interesting I didn't know they could do that. Odd as the old vic is on View From my seat with many photos on there. Wonder what the difference is

To give SeatPlan the benefit of the doubt, the Old Vic does change it's layout quite regularly, so the photo I took at Lungs, for example, wouldn't be much use to someone booking A Christmas Carol.

I must admit, I still like Theatremonkey for seat reviews / guidance. No pics, I know, but still enough to work from (and it has the two Old Vic seating plans)!

Is it basically a jukebox musical with a shouty Irishman weaving a narrative thread, do we think?

I’m just terrified that people are playing the Live Aid artists in some way so that we get ‘tribute acts’, rather than an original tale told with Live Aid as its backdrop.
